1956 Corvette find on Craigslist

Listed on the Washington DC Craigslist for $200. Sold by a woman who was selling it for the original owner. Looks like the rider got a severe ding on the front rim early on and never rode it again. Found a tag under the seat from Persons. Interesting serial number, W12345. Doing some research, it shows that the 2 color seat did not come out until 1958, but this does not look messed with. A piece of the headlight bracket is still on the headset. I’d rather have a horn (works) than a headlight even if it isn’t stock.

My '57 came with a 2 tone seat ... '56 was the first year for them.

What an extremely nice original. As the others have said, the seat is correct. Is the front rim damaged to where it has to be replaced?

I tapped it back in place. It feels right but has some minor scrapes. I have yet to test it.

My Oct. '56 'vette had the same seat, they were likely built as new '57 models for the xmas season.
