@SKPC ... and all gentle readers of this 23-T Davis racing-ring snippet, posted in this thread ...... WHAT THE HAY was the haps between Excelsior and Davis (shared parts), back in the day? We have seen other examples of other Davis rings placed in Excelsior frames ... but with this relic, we can see the inclusion of a Davis racing fork AND a girl's bayonet crank (not necessarily Davis), within that ring. ( ? ) Random or Orchestrated ?
Am sooo wrong about my inclusion comment re: a Davis racing fork. .......... patric @Goldenindian

I too was also overly optimistic! Even so, seeing the frozen in time appearance, did MCExcelsior (one of how many makers?) purchase the parts & materials remnant inventory from bankruptcy after Davis closed it's doors in the spring of 1923? The Shelby Cycle Frame Builders (21-24)contingent with Joe Selzer (president) and superintendent Leon Smith purchased the manufacturing equipment from Davis sometime in 1924 and railroaded it to the their new plant? Not sure this occurred before Shelby Cycle Frame Builders became Shelby Cycle Co (1925) Someone else (plural?)got the parts and materials inventory. This old ridden/forgotten example certainly suggests it.
