They actually aren't that bad. They really are a pretty good riding bike. the WC1 after '99 is decent and so is the NE 5 after '05. If you could pick it up for $650-$750 and had someone go through the motor and replace the cheap Taiwanese stuff, you'd have a fun little bike. Of course finding that someone might be a little bit difficult. I'd suggest contacting @mason_man on this site for more info if you were to purchase.

$650.0 is a good price. This 99 is still brand new, look at the end of the echo pipe.
EPA made them do too many restrictions. Done right the WC-1's are the strongest bikes made.
Kelley Blue Book shows them starting off at about $500
