Thanks that’s good info and very much appreciated! Will hopefully be able to come across a few decent bikes worth getting while I’m there. Will certainly post some pics if I take any home with me.
Hello fellow Cabers. I’ve never posted in this section as I am mostly into prewar bikes but could definitely use some of your help and knowledge.
I will be going to look at a small collection of stingrays and a few other Schwinn models of the 60’s and 70’s era. Hoping to do this sometime in the...
Got a call from same family member saying that there is another building on property that also has a few bikes in it. I will be back there in about a week or so. If he kept these bikes then my chances to find something good is hopeful. Wish me luck.
Well it’s been quite the drought for me for what feels like a long time without any new finds.
I was able to come across a connection that led me to a family member of an old collector that had passed away. He was a collector of many things and not just old bikes. What bikes he had left in an...
The Monark Super Deluxe is a very popular bike of its era and the fact that it was your dads makes it even more special. This bike will look great after some careful cleaning as other Cabe members have said. Please post pics for us to see your end results whichever direction you decide to go...
Lots of sentimental value to this bike I would say. You could always clean it up the best possible and if not happy then that makes it even easier to restore.
Go with your gut
You did a great job on both you builds there. The do look very nice.
I appreciate your compliments on the bike and yes,….I am absolutely stunned at the fact it is still up for sale. It’s basically a must for the serious Colorflow collector. (My opinion)
Sure hope no one is waiting for the price...
The ‘49 Higgins Colorflow’s don’t pop up too often and much less a Westfield built model. This was the debut of the “Deluxe” model known as the Colorflow. This does not have the springer as it was an option for this first year. Yes,…it is missing the batwing light which unfortunately is to be...
Here is a very fine example of Shelby’s model 52A. You will be hard pressed to find one in nicer condition.
I believe this bike was ridden very little and kept pretty safe since it was made in ‘53. I see a couple very small and minor touch ups on fender but I have to say that it’s in exceptional...
I have had this bike for several years with intentions of addressing the very few things that is needed to make this bike correct. It’s been on the back burner too long so now going to pass this along to someone who will give it the attention it deserves.
The only three necessary things that I...
Yes I can likely guarantee that it was my editing. I usually use my cell phone most of the time while on The Cabe. It just happens to be more of a convenience for me. With my clumsy fingers I’m surprised I can even spell out a complete word half the time.
This one has been locked away in one of my sheds basically since I found it a few years ago. This old fella is completely original down to the tires. Was originally thinking of parting with it so I took it out to knock off the dust. Starting to have second thoughts now. Just came out super nice...
As far as the appeal goes for the batwing light, some people love them and some people hate them. Nevertheless, they are an original part of the Colorflow bikes.
Regardless, the bike would make a great addition for someone that collects Colorflows. It’s a one year bike model and Westfield made...
Yep I’m afraid so. The light was called a “batwing light” and seems that many were removed, lost or just didn’t survive over time. They make re-pop ones or if you find an original in good condition it will be a bit costly. I appreciate your interest.
I am finally starting to organizing one of my sheds as I have been telling myself the past two years I would do. Actually scratching this one off my long list of “things to do.”
Anyway, this Mead Ranger has just been sitting just exactly as it was when I first came across it about 2 years ago...
I haven’t posted for some time but I was moving some bikes around in my shed and decided to pull this one out because I had been meaning to do a few adjustments to it.
I’ve had this one a couple of years but haven’t really messed with it until today. Seems completely original and it’s in really...
Gonna go way out on a limb with this one. Looking for a tank door to match the color scheme of this one. Hoping there may be some salvaged or saved from a tank beyond saving. I have a door for it now but is faded completely out.
Never know unless you ask,.....LOL!
Very nice complete project bike! Being a Snyder built Hawthorne, from what I see of the bottom bracket number appears to be a ‘49 but badge is a ‘50 or newer. Likely a 1950 model built in late ‘49.
Hope that helps and good luck with your sale!
I see that the fork nut is nearly halfway rusted through at the top bar section. Try to dremel/grind what’s left of that section of nut close as possible to threads. At that point you may be able to take a chisel and actually separate the nut from the threads by spreading it apart.
Just a...
