Hello fellow Cabers. I’ve never posted in this section as I am mostly into prewar bikes but could definitely use some of your help and knowledge.
I will be going to look at a small collection of stingrays and a few other Schwinn models of the 60’s and 70’s era. Hoping to do this sometime in the...
Well it’s been quite the drought for me for what feels like a long time without any new finds.
I was able to come across a connection that led me to a family member of an old collector that had passed away. He was a collector of many things and not just old bikes. What bikes he had left in an...
The ‘49 Higgins Colorflow’s don’t pop up too often and much less a Westfield built model. This was the debut of the “Deluxe” model known as the Colorflow. This does not have the springer as it was an option for this first year. Yes,…it is missing the batwing light which unfortunately is to be...
Here is a very fine example of Shelby’s model 52A. You will be hard pressed to find one in nicer condition.
I believe this bike was ridden very little and kept pretty safe since it was made in ‘53. I see a couple very small and minor touch ups on fender but I have to say that it’s in exceptional...
I have had this bike for several years with intentions of addressing the very few things that is needed to make this bike correct. It’s been on the back burner too long so now going to pass this along to someone who will give it the attention it deserves.
The only three necessary things that I...
This one has been locked away in one of my sheds basically since I found it a few years ago. This old fella is completely original down to the tires. Was originally thinking of parting with it so I took it out to knock off the dust. Starting to have second thoughts now. Just came out super nice...
I am finally starting to organizing one of my sheds as I have been telling myself the past two years I would do. Actually scratching this one off my long list of “things to do.”
Anyway, this Mead Ranger has just been sitting just exactly as it was when I first came across it about 2 years ago...
I haven’t posted for some time but I was moving some bikes around in my shed and decided to pull this one out because I had been meaning to do a few adjustments to it.
I’ve had this one a couple of years but haven’t really messed with it until today. Seems completely original and it’s in really...
Gonna go way out on a limb with this one. Looking for a tank door to match the color scheme of this one. Hoping there may be some salvaged or saved from a tank beyond saving. I have a door for it now but is faded completely out.
Never know unless you ask,.....LOL!
Had this posted on General Discussion but hoping to get more replies here.
@Archie Sturmer was kind enough to give his experienced observation which I greatly appreciated.
Got this truss frame not long ago and would really like to find out the manufacturer. Not much paint left but was blue...
Got this truss frame not long ago and would really like to find out the manufacturer. Not much paint left but was blue with red darts. I removed the badge to see if it may have been the original and I do believe it possibly was since there is an oval outline that matches. Two (slightly larger)...
May have an opportunity to purchase this bike but appears to me it’s missing quite a bit. I’m no expert on these models by far but what appears to be incorrect is; fenders, chain ring, bars. It’s also missing head tube shroud,..Etc.....
Not exactly sure what it’s worth with these issues but I do...
Trying to complete a late 20’s Motobike project and just need one more thing. The electrical socket for the pancake style light. I posted a little while back in “wanted” section without much luck so figured I’d try my luck here. Sure hope someone can help out. Thanks!
Pulled these off an early 30’s set of motobike bars. Have a shiny hard coating almost like a plastic. Under close inspection I could see they were wooden. Great overall condition. Seems they would be for much earlier bike. I’m wondering if any of you have any info on these grips.
Thanks
Hello! I’ve got a late 20’s Hawthorne Flyer I’m working on and only have a couple more items needed to complete it. I’m in need of the proper electrical socket for the light and also the proper grips. Hole diameter looks to be about 7/16”.
I did post in the “Wanted” section also but I figured...
Hello! Looking for the proper electrical socket for this late 20’s / early 30’s Hawthorne Flyer Light. Hole diameter looks to be about 7/16”. Thanks!
Oh,..need proper grips as well.

This is a very beautiful restored Colorflow! It was professionally done in the 90’s is what I was told. I have had it a couple years or so and have now decided to let someone else enjoy it. It does have a few scratches and a small tear in right side of...
Well I could use some opinions from you guys. I’m likely going to part with one of these two but I’m truly up in the air which one of these bikes to keep. I have a ‘49 Colorflow and these two ‘53’s. I would just assume keep them all but selling one of these keeps me moving forward towards...
Stumbled across this bike and may have an opportunity to purchase it. Not sure yet. I haven’t kept up with the going prices of these Super Deluxes but from what I’ve seen they usually are up there in price. This appears to be all original, complete and in good shape. Just needs a good cleaning...
I am hoping some of you with much more experience than me can educate me on this. I was fortunate enough to save this bike last week and am really curious about the tank jewels. As you can see in photos, both sides have a different jewel in the same place. I am used to seeing the traditional...
I’d like to get some opinions on cleaning this bike up. Should I do an OA bath or do you all think WD and 0000 steel wool? The green on top of rear rack is very thin from being weathered. Don’t want to rub too much on that. Your thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!
Well it’s been nearly a year without any significant finds but got lucky earlier this week. I was driving just 4 miles from my home and glanced over into someone’s yard and saw this bike in a flowerbed. Did a quick U-turn and yep,....this Colorflow was official “yard art”. Very nice lady said it...
I haven’t posted for quite some time but thought I’d share this find. I’ve been extremely busy with so many things over the past year that I haven’t been able to really search for any bikes. Funny because I sat down earlier this week and breezed through CL (which i rarely do) and ran across...
Here is a great condition original Shelby Airflow. Seat may have been reupholstered at one time? This bike is in great shape! No dings! Rides awesome and looks sharp!
$650 plus shipping
Got this one a while back and haven't done a thing with it. As you see it is exactly as was received. I haven't even wiped the dust off it. If I remember correctly this is a 1954. The bike was repainted and then oddly pinstriped with white (pinstriping tape). I was going to attempt to take a...
Stumbled across this one a couple days ago but I could use some more experienced help with the year it was manufactured.
Definitely well weathered. Front forks a little bent. Deep peaked fenders. No badge.
If you look closely at the serial number it seems to be double stamped on every digit...
I have a 1950 Snyder built Hawthorne project and am looking for a springer fork for it. Just as reference I have a pic of what I'm looking for. Light and truss rods would be a bonus also! Thanks!
Ran across this mid/late 50's (?) German made bicycle. It's a HWH "Heidemann-Work Hanover" Rotorjet
Pretty cool bike overall. Good shape with original paint. Everything looks original except possibly the seat? Although I can't really say as I don't know anything about this bike.
How about any...
Late 40's early 50's CWC Shockmaster Fork system. It is straight and in good overall condition. I believe this used to be original red color then painted over black at one time. Kind of a hodge podge of both now. Only needs cotter pins
$130.00 shipped to your door!
I picked up this rear rack a while back but was never sure what it came off of. Any ideas of what bike(s) this came on?
CWC maybe? Looks very similar to a rack that belongs on my '50 Snyder/Hawthorne except for the outer raised trim around holes.
I have an original 40's-50's CWC complete springer for a 26" frame that I am interested in trading for a Snyder springer (in equal condition) that would be correct for a 1950 Hawthorne project.
Only missing original cotter pins as noted in picture. Rods/ fork, everything is straight. Overall for...
I have this springer and was told that it would be a correct style for a 1950 Hawthorne (Snyder) bike that I have as a project. I have read that Snyder did not manufacture their own springers at this era and used CWC.
I may be totally misinformed but have a lot of faith in most members...
Came across another good find yesterday. I'm not a Schwinn expert by far and am not sure which year this is. It has the tapered kickstand, flat bandaid style rack bracket and large horn button. ????...46 or 47?
Has "AS" on the springer bolts but the seat clamp bolt had a standard hex head bolt...
Was able to come across these two bikes this week. Been a good while since I've had a decent find.
A '54 Goodyear (Columbia) Hi Way Patrol that was poorly repainted and a Snyder/Rollfast (?), badged "Bird" Richmond ,Va from Rowlettes bicycle store. Now out of business, they were open for nearly...
Talking with a friend in a local store over the weekend and got a lead to an old bike he saw about a year ago. The persons name he gave me sounded familiar. Took a ride to the persons home today and turned out to be a friend that I hadn't seen since high school. Which was quite a few years back...
I have not seen this bike in person but have opportunity to buy pretty cheap. I cannot get the serial number till I am able to physically visit the seller. The pictures are all I have to go by at this point. No head badge. Obviously an old rattle can repaint. Looks like 24" rims on 26" bike...
I ran across this Columbia Superb and picked it up for a descent price. I have about a level zero knowledge with Columbia. From the serial number it looks like a bad factory stamp for the first letter maybe? Was it maybe an "F" for the year 1941? I was hoping someone may give me a bit of...
Got this one not long ago and I'm certainly missing some parts. Any connections for a tank, front fender and chain guard? Looking for a tank first and foremost.
Interested in getting a period correct front light for this mid 30's to early 40's ladies Western Flyer. That's all she's missing. Winter time project for my wife.
I am looking for a front fender and chain guard for this 1950 Hawthorne. Fender is red and has a fine white pinstripe. I have seen this model paint scheme with the white diamond on top tube but only with tanks. No indication of tank but would also like to find that as well.
Thanks in advance!
I am very new to The Cabe and still have a lot to learn regarding vintage bikes. I did a recent post for help identifying year of a Hawthorne frame and several people helped me very much. I came across this ladies Western Flyer and although I am not particularly drawn to ladies bikes, this one...
I'm very new to The Cabe and have just recently started to collect some vintage bikes. I only have a couple of decent bikes so far as I am extremely new and inexperienced to this. By chance I came across this Hawthorne that was about to go to the scrapyard and well,...I couldn't let that happen...
