Sweet find!
@jimbo53 is the best source on here I know off for Old English bike info , but from what I know based on the few I have had it looks early to mid 70s. The serial number should be on the top of the seat tube. But what do I know I am a mainly a Schwinn guy.... 🤪
That men's is crazy cool.....I'm by no means a buyer on these, but I am curious to learn more.
Where were they manufactured, how did you date them, and what is the tire/wheel size? Look a little euro with the lugs and bolt together frame, and the way that girls frame has a single bar step-thru...
They are a lot more sought after on the SOCAL beach front , Florida and the Texas Coast as they make great fast cruisers where it's flat and for some reason people like vintage lightweights in these area's. Even geared they are quite heavy and slow compared to the modern hybrid city bike. I live...
I am a member as well, try a different username and it should work for you. Mainly a modern mountain bike site but there a few older rides that pop up every so often.
Not sure if they were original or an upgrade but I have found a few 65 KHDs with what appeared to be original chubby grips (the ones with air pocket on top). I have only seen them in black.
Sorry if I have posted these a few times on here in different forums, it's only because I really dig the tall MWs. 🤪
I have two favorites:
1965 King Size Heavy Duti (20" CTT seat tube) , all OG except brooks saddle and tires.
1962 King Size American Heavy Duty, all OG including the tires...
Very nice, in rare blue. What was the condition of the bike when you got it? Would like to see a before and after.
I have seen examples of 1963 serial numbers in blue as well. Here is the 63 catalog page saying blue, black and red were available.
Yes thanks, and possibly the one on the fare right, tires will say 26 x 1 3/8 or 26 x 1 1/4 with an indicator that they are 597mm.
They came on the Racer, Speedster and the Breeze as single speed coasters.
1973 Schwinn Suburban original paint and screening with a threaded square tapered bottom bracket conversion kit and a Shimano sealed bottom bracket. Originally had 27 x 1 1/4 rims on it, but I ran it with 700C. Price reflects the $60 of parts in the bottom bracket. Includes pictured original...
Looking for Schwinn 26" lightweight S5 & S6 wheelsets from the 50s-70s. Surface rust, grit and grime are fine, I just need the hubs to be complete and all the chrome to be on the rims and the rims to be straight and undamaged.
Prefer matching era wheelsets and the versions of Bendix rear hubs...
