The camera was conveniently not working near my unit, the person that I suspect has something to do with it was the one who installed the camera, there are plenty of other reasons why I think this person had something to do with it.
The transmission is the most painful, it took me forever to find someone to rebuild it, I was supposed to install it into my 64 Cadillac this weekend and start driving the car again after sitting for 7 years, it was a battle finding that one, sure has taken the wind out of my sails.
My storage unit was broken into between March 30th 2022 and July 17th 2022. This 1940 Ace badged Schwinn DX was stolen, it has a very distinctive dealer decal. Stolen with the bike was a Sun 680 distributor tester, a rebuilt 1964 Cadillac Turbo Hydramatic transmission, a early 60s factory...
So the frame is a 1983 VDC Changa I'm thinking I will wind up parting it out, now the question is should I try and build it or offer it up for trade for one of my dream GTs?
I feel very fortunate to have got one of my grail mountain bikes so early in collecting them. I bought this 1991 GT Team Avalanche from the original who worked for Riteway back when this bike was new, it wasn't rode much, hung in the guys apartment for years. This was the top of the line GT MTB...
1971 Raleigh International 22.5 inch frame (57cm) in the beautiful champagne color. The guy I got it from bought it from the original owner, it has been hanging in a dusty garage for a while. Light surface rust will clean off easily. At some time the guy upgraded the handlebars and stem, they...
At a local antique fair last march I missed this bike, I saw it after a guy I know got it. I asked if he was going to sell it and he said bought it to ride, I was pretty jealous he got it for a pretty cheap price. I told him if he decides to sell it let ne know, I ran into him antiquing last...
Recently I went to a local block sale, I was looking for vintage typewriters and carnival glass, I didn't have bicycles on my mind since I never have any luck at yard sales! I saw 2 bikes sitting next to each other, one was a modern pink girl's cruiser type, the other was this one. I'm a Schwinn...
The Schwinn Madison came with flip flop hubs, but that was in the mid-late 80s and they were Suntour. This does have the lockring threads, I wonder what the threading is under that freewheel.
Hello fellow Fresnan! Nice DX! The "GDD" license plate configuration on your Ford was from El Centro. Nothing better than getting a car with it's OG plates!
I'm very happy to add this one to my collection! This great bike was found here on the CABE, I borrowed the seat from my Phantom (might have to get a seat for the Phantom now!) Added the Torrington 8s I bought about a year ago, and some nice oval grips found here as well. After a little...
A friend of mine brought this out to a recent auto swap and I knew it was going to come home with me! It's very nice and all original except the tires, I was shocked to see it still had the U.S.A. made chain! I'm going to get a set of repop Westwind whitewalls for it. I'm very happy to add this...
Here are some pics of my wartime Schwinn New World I just bought, has bicycle license from 1944 still on it. Black out sprocket, hubs, headset, Seat post, mud guard braces,Torrington 8 pedals. Has the Lobdel victory saddle. I'm very happy to own this piece of history!
Good detective work on the plate, I bought the bike in San Jose, my buddy was thinking the SM might be San Mateo, I was thinking it was Santa Monica since it looks a lot like the Long Beach plate that is on my DX. I just trued the front wheel, what a difference! Now I need to work on the back...
My friend and fellow CABER gave me a tip on this I'm guessing 1943 Schwinn new world, so I made the 2.5 hour drive in my '66 Cadillac and I'm glad I did! It has lots of blackout parts and still has the original Lobdel victory saddle and 1944 bicycle license. I'm not sure why it has white...
My good buddy and fellow caber gave me a lead on this bike at a local estate sale, got there fairly early (got into it with a guy who thought he could just leave his chair and come back later) and got it! At a great price too! It's covered in old sawdust, but should clean up great. The OG...
I wouldn't think they would be custom ordering any wasps in late 1964, since they were being phased out and being replaced with the heavy-duti. But if a dealer was trying to sell the last of their wasp inventory and someone wanted a 3 speed one the dealer would build that wheel for someone...
@fiorditalia hello! Post some pics of your Fiorelli I would love to see those campy parts! @juvela thanks for posting those kool pics and history, I didn't know it was that old! I haven't done much to mine, it's sitting in storage with my Eddy Merckx and some other bikes, someday I will get a...
I have always wanted a phantom, when I found out about this one I thought here's my chance! I messaged the guy and made an offer, after a little back and fourth we came up with a good price! It was only a couple hours away from me, so me and my girlfriend rolled out there in my '66 Cadillac and...
Are the original cable housings any good? Back in my stingray days I would replace just the cable core itself and use the original housings, I think the company was jagwire that made the cable cores, they were inexpensive at my local bike shop.
The last year American did not have the seat tube wrap around decal. The difference with the American was it was 100% American made, even the pedals and chain are made in America.
Nice fastback! I used to be really into sting-rays, one thing I remember is alot of sting-ray collectors want the bike as original as possible. I would replace as little parts as possible, if any. Be very careful with cleaning that chain guard, the letters will wipe off very easily, a light...
I'm thinking it could be a replacement frame, perhaps the bike was originally a typhoon frame, sold in early '62, then something happened to it, and the dealer had one on hand.
