Bob I have the same pictures framed. I showed them to Ross and he didn't know any Pope motorcycles were sold here. No Pope bikes are in any collection here. Maybe they tried selling them but may have given them back to Pope when they didn't sell. Lots of Indian bike were sold here. The picture...
I need a complete Schwinn DX post war headset in good condition. Complete set, races, cups, bearings and top nuts. The bike I have was very rusted and nothing was usable. Shipping will be to Winnipeg Canada.
I had this Gilbarco pump delivered today. It will stay the way it is for now. Everything inside is complete and pump turns. I didn't check year but late 40's is my guess.
I heard about this frame over a year ago. The guy works at a metal recycling yard and gets all the bikes for scrap prices. The guy had it in an old farm shed for a long time. I got a call that I could come get it. I traded an old beat up 3 speed frame for it. I knew it was rough but thought it...
I have been after this Hex Tube bike for a year now. The guy said it was in his old farm shed. He called this week and I traded a beat up old 3 speed bike frame for it. I will make another post in the balloon tire section with a full set of pics(not for the faint of heart, some will cry). The...
I tried to get the new owner to contact me, I would like to inspect the bike. I hope new owner doesn't plan on changing anything or modify it. I had contact with the original seller but not new owner. Original family bought the bike many years ago for $30. It sold this week for $3000...
This Bowden showed up for sale late this afternoon. This was his ad. "This antique Bowden Spacelander is a rare and sought after collectible… It does have slight damage and missing parts… Serial number B010170… Reasonable offers will be considered…" I sent him an offer and waited. A few friends...
I got this small group of old books yesterday.
This morning I stopped a a friends place and bought these just over 80 books. I am now at over 300 of the early books.
I was at a friends place, took a few pics of his old photos. This is all in Winnipeg, Mb, Canada in the early teens. The speeding ticket is very cool. It says automobile #37 which is an Indian motorcycle licensed in that year.
Picked up these wheels that were given to me a few weeks ago. He didn't have them at home when I picked up the bike. Whizzer wear wheel, big spokes are bent or broken. Very rusty, not sure if they are usable. Good for display with the rusty wall stuff.
I was on this ride a few years back. Wish I could be back there instead of this -30 weather. Tomorrow is a warm up, -3C/28F, then back to deep freeze. This is what a lot of people are doing on the river a few miles from me. There must be a thousand ice fishing huts in 10 miles.
Thanks the bike is very nice. I got a message from him earlier today about visiting him and the collection, I think he has only 4 bicycles. He does have a nice collection of early motorcycles. His latest is a Vincent Black Shadow, it is not at his place right now. He does have his 1911 Harley...
I made a mistake on the serial number. The serial number is 4445. I talked to the owner of the bike and he corrected me on serial number. He sent me pictures of a letter from Schwinn museum asking the owner Feb 5,1985 to sell it to them, a price offered is covered. They also ask for a few...
It is the same as the CCM ones that I have ha in the past. I think I have one that is missing the drop stand. The clip is still on it. Max is right saying an extra hole was drilled, maybe to move it to work with a bike with different rear dropouts.
The Goodrich badged bikes were CCM made from what I remember, I did sell a Goodrich badge to Barry a year or 2 ago. I had a Goodrich tricycle with same badge, smaller but same look. I gave trike to a friend, I will try to get a pic of it when I see it. They may have been sold at Hudson Bay...
I have a few Schwinn bikes and they were brought up from the US as we didn't have Schwinn dealers here. C.H.Harness the biggest CCM bike seller in Canada back the the early days (he was distributor of CCM in the west and maybe eastern Canada) had the Whizzer franchise here in Winnipeg. He sold...
The bike is still in my friends collection. He says he had a buyer from the US but was not sure he would let it go. I had someone say the parts are not as early as the bike. The front and rear hubs are 30's, seat may be 30's. I can't read serial number from picture, looks like 41445, there may...
I picked up the Schwinn DX I bought a week ago. Came with newer wheels and crank, also original crank, side stand and fork, no fenders. The bike had a Whizzer motor at one time. Only stamp on crank is in pics. Springer fork came from the Hex Tube bike I hope to get this week. My wife gave me the...
A few things I picked up in the last week. Very nice Schwinn chainguard and rack. Rough Tomakawk stem, this is all I got. Has a bad repair, maybe will get fixed. 50's Royal Flyer balloon tire bike, not sure who sold this bike here in Canada. I also bought a Schwinn DX(no pics yet), will pick up...
I bought this 40 DX from a local bike shop many years ago. Was in the basement of the store since 1966 when it was traded in. It was in a local ad for $3500Can. I offered a lot less and she said she would think on it. A day or so later she called and said come pick it up. Had the drum brakes...
I am looking for the sliding clamp for Major Taylor stem. The one where the bars go through. I don't need the stem. The one I have has a crack and is not usable unless I get it welded.
I cannot get to it right now but I think the hubs are Airlite, alloy flanges, steel barrel. There is a picture of the shifter, second picture. round shifter, looks like a bell.
There has been a few posts about Hercules Kestrel bikes on this forum. Like a lot of British bikes it must have been brought over after WW11 when some of the vets came back after rebuilding some of the destroyed buildings and systems. This one could be very early 50's.
NOS CCM small badge from 1950's/60's. Garry from Ashdown Company in blue and Garry in black, black one was early 30's, blue from 50's. Sovereign from Wood Vallance Ltd in Winnipeg. This one is from early 20's. One of the last bikes they sold. Bike was in bad shape.
I bought this Hercules Kestrel Super Club from a friend a few weeks ago. Just finished the clean up of the bike. When I got it the first time I tried the shifter in all gears the cable broke. It has the Sturmey Archer style end at the derailleur end. The other end is like most old brake lever...
Picked up 200 of these 50/60's rodder magazines. There is some cool old school rods here. They were at an antique store selling at $18 each. I saw them a year ago and they never sold any. I made an offer now for all and got them. Also picked up this cool old 1925 CCM made bike for Wood Valance...
I have not posted in a while. I rode the red/cream Schwinn last week, first ride on it since I bought it. 15km ride to a local park on some nice trails. Rode great, no problems. Beautiful Red River in background.
I rode the Schwinn DX this evening on a local gravel trail. 20km with no...
Thanks Shawn. I have a sliding rail saddle around somewhere but might be prewar. Pedals will probably stay on it, they are in good shape, probably repops. I will check on the reflectors and light screw.
