That thing turned out great......plated frames are so cool when cleaned up,..... and what a great look as a modern rider....value is subjective with non original parts, ....but Dang.....I'd say its worth a bit to the right guy..call it a 1600 bike and enjoy...very nice cleanup.
You won't know till you take the tires off.
Your rims look similar to these on a pierce.
Mine are glue on...will not take beaded tires.
If you remove the tires, get them very warm, like with a heat gun.... then save them. They are nice and collectable.
The Indian got some updates for riding season.....a recovered troxel, "new" white tires, repro grips, and the "icebox" is mounted for riding. this thing really looks nice now.
Anybody have a source for tiny aluminum headbadge rivets for TOC bikes....the size is much smaller than the usual....I can't seem to find them anywhere.
An old thread with a new question......this is an unknown frame with a fauber/sager-regas or other looking design, any ideas on a maker? or what it would have originally been.......very cool frame and seatpost.
After "aging" on the white ones....this thread has me back on the tubular modifying kick....can't wait to get the white ones on a rider, and get the new wide ones done up.....probably gonna have to fake up the stems too....great idea and look.
The Idea of complete painting of tubulars with flex...
I am neither a salesman for nor part owner of flexseal...........however it works okay for this purpose.
I actually just tried coating an entire tire.
Probably won't even mind the look when the tread wears back to black.
Used 1 1/2 cans.
Oooh.....I got the tires in the mail and they are very cool..did not disappoint..started the process of gluing the stems for my needs.
Ill be buying more.
Look pretty wide.
Thanks for the heads up on these.
To remove, use a blowdryer or heatgun....it will take time....after heating with care.....pry off starting at non stem side......get them to a decent shape then .....they will get rock hard again when heat is removed. try to save them..."kokomo" ....worth saving.
Okay,...one more time...tried to link a post but failed.....I swear... that this works for riding new tubulars......I agree that they lose air,...and that the stems are weak.....
but, ....if you re-enforce the stems and then paint the inner surface with flex seal or whatever...they will hold...
An early corbin hub with gear drive for likely columbia/pope....not sure exactly.
laced to a decent wood hoop with modern spokes......I can separate the hub for a sale if desired. all complete and seemingly working correctly. 300 with wheel 250 without.
Some originals sold recently for a decent price, which reminded me why I save or recreate this stuff.....I will buy your "unredeemable" bulldog grips. .........takes time, but can be done.
Are these new? I ride many original wood rims on modern tubulars with excellent results....biggest I have are 700x33......never found bigger..I just ordered a set. I would love to see these mounted.....great deal for the wood rim guys.
I have for trade a nice clean color red......nice graphic...missing end cap, has a placeholder columbia style repro cap.....looking to trade for original paint blue.......will add $$$ for a nice complete blue.
or will also buy without trade.
I forgot to take "before" pictures, but this took some serious love to get back together. Thanks to @David Brown for his help with the handmade part.
.....still rough, but a decent save.
Maybe missing a rear fender, has some flaws, but pretty clean nice little bike.....not sure of the year, but guessing late 70s....I can ship at cost.......I like saying "Gaucho" .....a cool word.
Cool story,
Great score.
This one made me look again at a few emblem frames that I have.
After quite a bit of research, I still am confused with the serial numbers, and can't be sure about a 5 digit number.
What is known is that Emblem was producing frames/bicycles long before they acquired...
Did you literally drag this out of the woods?......If so...i want to hike where you do.
After you posted this, I dug out a drop frame emblem that I have.
Some things that are specific are oversized fork tube diameter and headset....and oversized crank cone and locknut....also the serial should...
