After coming across your bike on another site, with your serial number being an FM it puts it at a 63/64. Mine is an FA which puts it at a 62. This is a compilation of serial numbers off of the site Condorino. com. This is a great site for anything pertaining to the Legnano brand. A ton of...
Thanks Jesper. I pulled them up too, and you are right, they look identical to me. Seems a little confusing as to where to order them from? I think I will order from the Soma website today. Do you recall as to what site you may have used? The main site even suggests that you order from another...
Hey Andrew, thanks for all of the great information. Unfortunately I did most of that already. The problem is the coverings of the housings are brittle and are splitting and coming off. I even tried gluing the split pieces back on, to no avail. Cables actually work, just looking pretty poorly.
I am excited about this Legnano because of the story behind it, the age , and overall complete condition of it. It is a 1962 Model 53 Mezza Corsa. This particular model seems to be fairly rare in this country. This bike was a one owner. The gentleman whom purchased it new lived in San Francisco...
This appears to be in the 1967-1970 time frame. 60’s PX10’s are definitely in higher demand. I would think that $300 would be a fair price. These bikes were raced in the Tour pretty much as you see it, back in the day. A quality bike, congrats, glwts
Hey Joel I am glad to hear you are coming up. I live in Richmond and the rain is knocking the snow down pretty good right now. Looks like the weather should be ok for Saturday. The plow and salt people should have everything pretty spiffy by then. Safe travels everyone. Looking forward to it as...
Chrome is always a standout. I have a Prelude like that one, and red, white and blue is always great. I don’t care for the looks of the Super Sport quite as much, but I bet it is probably the lightest and fun to zip around on. Nice trio!
I believe the first three years of the Varsity were Ideale saddles, but when they switched to Sprint components in 64 they were also equipped with Sprint saddles for the next few years?
It sure looks like Schwinn stem shifters poking up by the handle bars. No black in anything but a Paramount in the late 60’s. 68-69 the Super sport was available in Sierra Brown and came with a full chrome fork……
I agree with the guess on Super Sport. Looks like maybe toe clips also? Not sure what Schwinns would have been offered in black during that time period? At any rate, Schwinn or not, pretty cool!
