Hey Cabers. I recently restored an older Park CR-2 Cotter Pin Remover Tool and has (#6176) and "Park Tool Co" in the casting. I believe the later versions (see pics 3 and 4) have just "Park Tool" in the casting. I was also wondering if there was actually a CR-1 and if so, when they may have...
Getting all of the Schwinn factory fraction lengths for different 60s/70s Paramount 3X and 4X builds has proven to be a little challenging. However, I've built Paramount wheels for many years and have decided to put my lengths and specs into these two pages. Hope it helps!

Thanks for all of your responses. Lots of helpful info. I think chrome plated, butted 14/15/14 Union spokes (clover leaf head) are the best option for my P-13. I still am not certain if that is exactly what Schwinn used, but closest I've come to being accurate. I'm still looking for more...
Thanks. I am an experienced builder and have a Morizumi spoke cutter/roller so I can do 14 or 15g. I also have good stock of period NOS Union spokes; 14 and 15g butted and non-butted, plated and non plated. I will be doing the measurements myself as I always do, so I'm good with all that. I...
I was wondering if anyone could chime in on the correct spokes for a stock 1972 Schwinn Paramount racing model. I believe they used Union. I'm not sure if stainless or chrome plated, butted or non-butted, 15g or 14g and if they had a "for Schwinn" clover leaf spoke head stamp. Any insight...
Thanks for this. Confirmation that the double stand was made as early as 1968. On my way to charting the lineage of the Park repair stands and this helps. 1963-1968 seems to be the hardest period to pin down.
Interesting, thanks for sharing. I've seen an old picture from the mid-60s from Park with a bike being worked on upside down in an early stand and have also seen shops of the era work on their bikes upside down. I assume it was a balloon tire single gear bike thing as most repairs could be...
I do restorations/refurbishing/wheel building and have the pleasure of correctly refurbing these original Park Tool Schwinn Repair stands. I know Schwinn assisted Park with funding and that Schwinn had first right of refusal for tools they wanted to put red handles on. What I'm not sure of is...
Thanks for these great images. As a restorer/preserver, the info is quite useful for me. Unfortunately, while the housing/casing itself looks just like Huret, the collars and hexagonally crimped ends suggest another maker. I have about 50 of them, NOS. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it.
Thanks for your detailed reply. There were two Huret housing/core sets (NIP) in the supply I had with these housing/core sets. While they look similar to Huret at first glance, upon closer inspection these cables/cores are definitely different, especially the ends and collars, as you said...
Hello Cabers. I was going through my speedo cables and found a pack of these Huret cables. Trying to identify them. The ends (ID, OD and end thickness) are different from one another. I'm guessing with the two different collars and end thicknesses that these may me moped cables. Any help...
Hello Cabers. I am enclosing a bad before picture of a 95% original black/gold 1983 Super Sport that I am preserving to stock condition. I'm almost finished, save for finding an Ariake Aero saddle and the correct pedals/clips/straps, which I am unsure of. This was the first year of...
Ah, didn't realize the Sting Ray forks were middleweights. Mine has theexact same dimensions as given for the green fork. So, looks like a '74 Sting Ray fork for S7 rims with the wrong non-caliper brake chrome cap?
Got the date down, but I'm not sure if it is a Stingray (20") or Fastback (20 x 1 3/8") fork. I'm leaning toward 1 3/8". I don't have the right wheels to check, but it's 12" from axle center to the top of the crown. I tried searching for the fork length specs/differences but no luck. Steerer...
Hello. I bought this primered-only Schwinn Sting Ray fork from a shop years ago and am trying to id. Left dropout code 9 + 4 Pic isn't the best but the stamping is very clearly 9 + 4 I assume it's a 1974 fork from the date code, but am a little puzzled by the 9 + 4 and wasn't sure what the...
Hello. I recently purchased a 60s Sting Ray and a few parts. One of the parts was a USA made Carlisle Knobby Slik with "Schwinn Sting Ray" raised letter logos. The tire date code is C 11 7 2 with (11 7) in an oval. This seems to date the tire to 1967. My question is what Sting Ray bikes had...
I'm looking for a Park Tool PRS-1 Top Arm and clamp assembly. The original one like the picture (thanks), that slid over a pipe with notched adjustment and spring-action. Thanks for reading

I'm curious if you have looked at the photos I originally put in the post, as most of the things you are asking for are in the pics. It will take me about a half hour to get some of the other shots you are requesting, and I'm not in the same location as the bike so I have to go there to get the...
Hi Pete. Nice to hear your info. Other than the original "Sports Tourist" downtube transfer, let me know exactly what part of the bike you would like photos of. I tried to be detailed with the pics, but you may require certain regions of the bike to be shot. As far as the gold box lining on...
Thanks for the links. Maybe some Columbia folks may know about when they stopped using chrome parts. I guess it depends on the models and as you suggest, some bikes may have a mix of chrome/black-out as the chrome parts ran out. This bike has all chrome parts but yes, ivory enameled rims. Hmm..
Hello Cabers. I just finished the preservation of a 1942 Westfield (Columbia) Sports Tourist bicycle and it came out great and rides wonderfully. Everything is original except for the saddle and tubes. Even the Gillette tires made in Eau Claire, WI are perfect. My question is about the...
Hello Cabers. I've had this Monark Silver King Rocket 20" Wheel
Child's frameset for years and have always suspected that it was pre-war. The rivet holes are on the bottom bracket for the missing serial number plate. Straight downtube, original post, clamp, bb/crankset w44t...
Thanks for all of the info. Mine is definitely a 1947 with later front train light addition. I like it more this way with the train light. All original is always best, but I'm pretty happy with this result.
Hi. I was wondering if you saw my recent post about the Monark Super Deluxe. The post title says something like 1951 Monark Super Deluxe need help dating. Turns out it is a 1947 with a not-so-bad refurb paint job and a train light added instead of the pedestal light. The bike looks great...
After digging deeper it seems you are correct with the 1953 assessment. The thing that threw me off was the small horn tank button. I thought the button was larger on Super Deluxes from this era. A good friend of mine and his dad "restored" it and I took it in on trade. The paint is really...
Hello. Looking to sell my Ca. 1951 Monark Super Deluxe bicycle and needed help dating it. Older restoration. Newer tires and Person's leather saddle. Serial number on badged plate under the bottom bracket is AO17465. Original train headlight works. Any info would be greatly appreciated...
Just completely refurbished a black 1989 Schwinn Cimarron mountain bike and am not sure if the bike was made in Greenville, MS, Japan, or by Giant in Taiwan. The bike is in great condition and has no decal (or evidence of one) indicating country of manufacture. Any info would be appreciated.
Hi, just finished refurbishing a 1989 Schwinn Cimarron mountain bike and still need to purchase the original "Mountain-Pro" saddle, made in Italy. Any help would be appreciated. Wanna get this gem on the road!
Hi. I have a 1989 Schwinn Cimarron mountain bike that I refurbished to original condition and was wondering if anyone had the original "Mountain-Pro" saddle available for sale? It's printed "Mountain-Pro" on the nose, "made in Italy" on the underside. It's the only piece I need to finish the...
