This frame was purchased without the original headset, I was working under the assumption that it would take a standard 1" American headset (bmx style)
The head tube measures 33.0mm.
I have two 1" Threaded bmx headsets that the cups measure 32.5mm.
A 1 1/8 threadless headset that the cups...
I'm thought i might have more suggestions here, I cant be the only one to encounter this situation. Since the cups are a press fit anything in the 32.5 -32.7mm range would not have the interference to be pressed in with the 33.0 dimension I have, so they would have enough room to move around and...
I am building a Klunker using what i was told is a 1948 Rollfast. I only purchased the bare frame so I don't have headset cups to compare with new ones.
I assumed that this frame would have used a standard bmx style 1" headset. But the cups are way too small. The head tube measures out to 33.0...
Once again id like to thank everyone for all the help and words of encouragement . I am currently in the middle of a complete garage make over with a home bike shop. So this winter the bike will get a complete tear down and service. I and currently tracking down the few bits the bike needs.
I really cant express how grateful I am with the help and knowledge you have given me. It has truly made my experience with bike seem so much easier. Truly..thank you!
I put the bike into the stand this evening and gave it an overall assessment.

The wheels will need to be trued and possibly replace the spokes.
All of the consumables will need replacement, tires, tubes ,cables etc.
The...
I realize that was a very broad and open ended question. It is my frame size and i can see places that will need to be changed to fit me. The bars seem very narrow.
Im totally blown away by all the knowledge you are bringing to this conversation. All of the brochures, I cant believe that you have this at your disposal. Thank you so much!!
Thank you!! Thank you for the education, How can you tell the date or range of dates? I have the pedals, they were removed for storage. I think im going to clean it up and service everything. My local shop has the press for the cotters so I wont have to stress over those. Even though its a base...
I was given this bike by a co worker who was cleaning out his garage. I have searched here and other forums trying to figure out what i have as well as history of the brand. Its very complete but needs some love and id like to get it rideable. How can i tell what year and model it is? Im aware...
Im looking for some 1/2 pedals with red pedal blocks, Do they exist? Does anyone have any they would like to part with? Id also consider a bow style pedal. Thank you in advance fo any help you can provide!
Im looking for some info on the X-53 models, basically give me all the info you guys can.
There doesnt seem to be much out there for this model. Was it not a popular bike??
I have one in what looks like Metallic red under the awful spraybomb paint job, It also has a skip tooth drive train...
