I bought this Raleigh brand new around 1983 or 84 and had it till about 5 years ago when I gave it to my son in law. I rode it today and can say without a doubt that both my 73 Continental and 74 Le Tour have a superior ride quality over this Raleigh. Still a nice bike but not as nice as my...
One of the many reasons I stopped selling on EBay. They don’t back you up even if they screw up. They wash their hands and ignore you. Jed the EBay customer service guy is some dude in India that has no clue. eBay has gone down hill big time. Fed Ex screws up on a regular basis here in the...
Hey you are still at it and giving it your best👍
I’m nearing 70, but still stay active. Usually ride 8 to12 miles several times a week, that plus yard work and other stuff. I don’t feel old but my body disagrees🤨
Felt great today to be riding again. Had a leg muscle injury and the doc said to knock off biking for 2-3 weeks till my leg healed.
Really enjoyed the late afternoon ride having confortable breezy weather.
A beautiful sunset en route back home

Wow that is fantastic!! I can’t imagine myself riding so many miles in one day not even 40 years ago when I was in my 20’s so congratulations for your feat! 👍 At my age the most I have done is 26 miles in about 3 hours.
So waited till almost 7 pm for the heat to go down some, feeling like 102 will have to do. Way better than 110 heat index earlier. 🥵
So out for a few miles on the repro Luxury Liner before it gets dark.
Actually what bike I didn’t get to ride today. Took the trusty Continental out of the garage early in the morning about 8 am and the front tire was flat. Investigation revealed a leak at the stem where the metal valve meets the rubber so unable to save it. Used a spare tube got it mounted and...
Boy do regret selling the 53 Panther I bought, missing seat, carrier, fender lights and tank. It was rattle canned in ugly flat blue paint. I restored it using repro parts from Memory Lane Classics, brought it up to look as coming off the showroom. Kept it for a few years and rode it a few times...
We all have different methods that have worked, so this one has worked for me every time….I built and flew RC aircraft some being large at 8 feet wingspan. Wood glue is used on the non stressed areas and slow setting epoxy for areas needing extra strength like wing spars, wing attaching blocks...
Forgot to mention another issue, proper tire inflation. I see some folks riding on fairly low inflated tires. Low inflation means more drag and resistance making pedaling a tad harder.
Saturday three days ago I went to pull out this very same bike off the wall hook to be prepped for a ride. Well I did something wrong and my back got hurt really bad. 😫 🤬My back feels a lot better today so I took a nice ride up to my daughter’s house to visit my new grandson. Anyway I kept it...
No biking for me today. Went to bring down my Schwinn 59 tank bike from the wall hook and my back screamed OUCH!!!!😫
Feels like someone hit me on the lower back with a 2x4. Stay safe out there fellas.
My Le Tour will turn 49 years old in June yet looks and rides as if brand new. A true testament to Schwinn’s excellent quality. Logged 14 miles on today’s ride.
Was about to mention what Schwinn Sales touched on above. The video is good for disassembly and reassembly but only use grease on the bearings and few drops of 30w auto oil in the filler tube. The first time I took mine apart
I greased it like he did and noticed that the hub was dragging on...
Alclad gives the same effect and is stronger than the powder he used. Model car builders strip off the toy like chrome from bumpers and rims then spray gloss black followed by Chrome Alclad. This is the P51 drop tank looking like real metal chrome.
There is only one paint that will look like metal and that is Alclad. However, it’s very delicate and will not stand up to handling or any type of chemicals. It’s used for models to simulate chrome or natural metal finish.
Here is my 1/48 scale F84 painted with a base coat of gloss black enamel...
Beautiful riding weather today so pulled out the 74 Le Tour, 12 miles today.
Florida Cranes are seen all over my area. These lads are inquisitive and some will walk up pretty close to people. A while back I had a pair of them walk into my open garage while I was cutting wood. They came in...
