Ive always thought that the Shimano C/B hubs rolled the easiest....Also a Sachs hub is an interesting choice if You are looking for a smooth ....easy rolling hub.....
I am wondering about the chainring myself......Would the manufacturer have put that large of one on that bike??.....Also notice the C/G is missing....Food for thought......
The brake sleeve on those is made of brass......In many cases they are very worn.....The brake sleeve should have well defined lines on it....If they are well worn or even completely gone....it should be replaced....otherwise the brake will perform very...

Definitely 1960s......WF is Western Flyer sold at a Western Auto store.....I would say it was built by Murray......These are great riders.....They have the nice old bike feel but they dont weigh nearly as much as earlier Balloon models....26 X 1.75 tires...
I read an article several years ago about Spalding Bicycles and how they were used by a select group of Men to do a test ride across the country....unfortunately I cant remember what magazine I saw this in........It was very interesting how they did this...
I have had questionable tires in the past and used an old inner tube....[split open very carefully].....to line the bad tire and then put the tube in and put it all back together.....Also a heavy duty tube can be of help........
Fantastic bike....and definitely a Morrow rear Hub......I have a Ladies Elgin with that same hub.....I wonder how common it is to find a Morrow on an Elgin?? Be very careful if You try to remove that handlebar stem....It can easily be damaged if it is...

If You want to make the Bendix brake work very well.....You can put a set of Bendix 76 shoes in Your hub.......4 pcs instead of 2.....You will be very pleased with the results.....
I agree with everything that was said in previous replies......but even mildly worn ball bearings can sometimes also produce a growling noise.....I got away from white lithium grease a long time ago......I like NAPAs medium duty grease for about...
Very carefully slide a small flatblade screwdriver between the grip and the Hbar surface.....You can try squirting soapy water in there or in extreme cases use the straw on a WD 40 can....Then just start working the grip side to side and it should...
I had 200 at one time....that was crazy.....I have around 80 now ......but i also recon. and sell used so that explains some of that.... If they sit too long You start losing your grips....tires etc......so You have to keep things moving..........I guess...
I usually take the fork out and with the bike secure in a stand I knock the protruding part of the rivet off with a screwdriver or a punch...[from the inside]....and then hopefuuly You can wiggle the rivets out with a small pair of pliers......I have...
I have done even a lessor version with 2 Stingrays myself.....one of them being a "barn find" 67 Coppertone....They are not fully correct.....but I can fix them as time goes by....They are fine for Me!!!!
