From pictures it looks like a spring loaded thing at the bottom where the spoon attaches to the forks and the piece that holds the horizontal top piece to the handlebars. What bike did you ride today?
Rode the 73 Italvega Super Record fixie today. Went about 12.5 miles then measured one revolution of the pedals and came up with 22’. 12.5x5280 divided by 22 equals 3000. I’ll time it next time. Some pregnant cows.- comet

what one bicycle have you had the longest
This is a Bob Jackson frame I got about 1975. It had been in a fire. I bought new Shimano Dura Ace components painted it blue and rode it for years. It had been hanging in garages for the last 20 years until about a year ago I repainted it and tuned it up. Still rides great.- comet

How Light is Your Lightweight?
Here's a 1974 Raleigh International. Frame only was 5lbs. Complete bike 24lbs. 1 1/2lbs more than the catalog says. It is original except the rims, so maybe that is the 1 1/2 lbs. It is now for sale in the complete bike section.- comet

Forgot to say. It had no chain when I got it so I put the chain you see in the pics on it to ride it but it is too small and won't come with the bike. I will throw in a chain that will work but needs cleaning before it dirties up the Campy groupset. Sorry.- comet

Tried to go for a ride. Made it about 3 miles, took these pics and came home. Too smoky. Mead Ranger frame, fork, bars and crank. I think, however I did change the chainring to go with the tires that aren't original. It also made it a lower gear. This bike is fun on intermediate single track...- comet
