The shifter has a drag brake on it. The brake cable runs from the handlebars through the shifter to the brake caliper on the rear. It is a special cable that has a piece that goes on the shifter. When you pull the drag brake shifter it pulls the brake cable. It is a 69 model year. Great Score on it.
The axle mount sissy bars were after market I believe. The hole in the top was probably for a Ray Cooper Topper to mount. Both are great for any muscle bike.
This is my bike. I would take 150 dollars for it if you come pick it up. I also have a Schwinn Speedster 3 speed I won here in a raffle. Great bike I just dont use it. Might make it worth the trip. 500 on the Speedster or 600 dollars for both.

I found this bike on Facebook July 4th. I believe it might be a 1920's Hawthorne Flyer from some posts here. There is red paint under the blue and silver paint. Forks turn good. Sprocket turns good as do the wheels. Front rim is rusted through. Back rim is complete but the wood inside is rotting...
A Pig bike is a bike that was made before 1963 that was made into a muscle bike. Before they were selling muscle bikes they were selling solo polo banana seats and high rise handlebars. You took off your fenders and seat, handlebars and added the solo polo seat and highrise handlebars. That is...
I got the fork tubes yesterday. They came out good as usual. I will be working on drilling them, rounding the ends and bending them to 60 degrees this week. Then off to polishing. I will post more pics as the work gets done.
Wow talk about beginners Luck! Great entry into the muscle bike world. Looks pretty complete except for fenders and seat. Check here and Ebay for parts. Looking foward to seeing it cleaned up. Evapo rust is great for cleaning the rusted parts.
The forks are bent at 60 degrees but I have made them with a 30 degree bend. They dont ride as good as straight chopper forks. A Rail frame does not ride as good as a shorter frame. As for a long ride with these forks I am not sure they would be a good choice. I am trying to hold my price at...
In 62 or 63 they started selling solo polo seats, sissy bars and high rise handlebars. These bikes built by owners are called pig bikes. Before that late 50s early 60s Cali guys were using tall goose necks and tall handlebars using the rear rack to make longer seats. So yes pre stingray bikes...
Here is a Schwinn S2 rim and Firestone tire. Tire has side cracking. Rim chrome is shot. Has rust. No crub dents though.
$20 Firestone tire
$40 Schwinn rim
Plus Shipping from New York 13839
The F3 Ranger on the guard shows what it was. A 3 speed. The rear wheel, crank, sprocket, forks are not correct. They made many different models using the F series frames. Cool Score!
They are both Sears bikes. You can tell by the headbadge and seat post decal. Both are pre 1972 when they started using the BMA sticker on the seat post. Made by Huffy badged by Sears.
