Hello - I am in need of some hardware for a saddle. The post is an early "7" type of 5/8" diameter. I will post pics of both the post and the underside of the seat. Willing to pay a reasonable price plus shipping. Please PM me or send an email to dhc3@cornell.edu. This is the last piece I...
I finally have my Keystone Road Racer put back together again, and rode it last Sunday a little. Still need to get a more appropriate seat but nice to have it be a bicycle again rather than a pile of parts. Hudson River, Schodack Island State Park, Castleton NY.
I put a wheelset I made for another bike on the "Onondaga" and rode it for the first time today. The wheels are OK, everything else needs a lot of work! 39 degrees and sunny but no bikinis or lycra along the Hudson, I can't imagine why. Thanks to Scott for the new "Amsterdam" tires.
Not a CABE bike but any February day which is ridable here in upstate NY is a day to celebrate. The railroad bridge in the background is named the Alfred Smith Bridge and was built by the NY Central.
Schodack Island, Hudson River, NY
Not an old bike (2013 Salsa Vaya) but an old chimney at the ruins of a Hudson River ice house. Weather 39F and heavy fog, pretty good for upstate NY in December.
There are some good threads here on dating the Columbia Model 50 so if you do a search you might find the answer. I have an 1898 but I don't know enough to tell you all the points that make it different from 1899 and later models.
Neat Seat!
My VIM has a Troxel seat so it is neat to see a VIM seat. I haven't been able to find out much about the company other than it was in Buffalo. The original wheelset on my bike has VIM tires so VIM liked to put its name on many of the parts.
Hi - I am looking for a straight-legged crank for a TOC or maybe 1920's bike. I'll attach a picture of the current crank which has arms approx. 175 mm long and a center piece about 105 mm wide. Please PM me or email dhc3@cornell.edu if you have something similar. Thanks for looking - David
The TOC bikes are my favorites. The first time I saw a Racycle Pacemaker I was intrigued by the big chainwheel, and I think the curvy bars are pretty sexy, too. I agree that everyone has their individual favorites - for me I just like the way they look. Mine will be better when it has...
Hi - I am looking for a cone-shaped expander nut and accompanying threaded bolt for my Kelly bars. The stem is 74mm long and the inside diameter is 21 mm. I've been looking for a while so I'm thinking this isn't an easy part to find(?) If I have little chance of finding something to fit if...
Beautiful!
Hi Tom - I've been waiting to see this bike since you told me about it at Copake some time ago. Love it! Have you been back to Mad Dog in Delmar lately? I have another project to bug him with! Cheers, David from Castleton
New Bike But Old Gentleman
Today might have been the last riding day in upstate NY for a while. I ran into President Martin Van Buren while riding my 2013 Salsa Vaya.
