Uncovered this badly deteriorated, corroded and rusted Schwinn Phantom chainguard and would like to salvage to the extent possible? Is it worth the effort? I do have a Phantom frame that is an unrestored rider for this guard, so their is a rideable Phantom bike awaiting my trials...
great decision to clean it up as is and ride Mike. Really great pictures showing the natural wear and tear through its life. Bikes, like cars are built to be outside! Ride 'em, drive 'em and smoke 'em if you got 'em!
Amazing - a work of art, perseverance and attention to detail - you have set a very, very, very high bar for the rest of us rookies! I feel like a rube :)
Nashman - quite an impressive collection. Quite the eclectic 50's and 60's escape room you have created. I have a '69 eldorado similar to your '67 model that needs rebuilding if you are interested in a project car?
Nice Bike - suggest you spot yourself some extra fuses in your saddle bags just in case Mr Murphy and Mr Lucas are along for a ride. Enjoy and be safe. Looks great without the turn signals!
Picked up this project from a wet basement - very sad to see corrosion on this bike. Have many projects so this one is way down the list. Bike is almost complete - one pedal missing, corrosion ate the spokes, handle bars and chain. comes with built in horn, rear carrier and dual headlight set up...
Cool - appreciate the functional ride as well as the salvaged accumulation of parts that make this unique. Also fun to ride a creation of sorts. Thanks for the inspiration. Enjoy!!
Put this cruiser together with parts found in a pool shed - been stored there since late '60's. Getting ready for Spring!
Also found a frame that will become a project bike.
A few more pictures - unit is full of dust. Let me know if any additional pictures needed? Saw this train run last in early '60's when I was a little kid. Believe it was pulling red Pullman-type cars, but they are not available anywhere.
Spot on! All my bikes are riders - Museums are for lookers; garages are for riders - I spend my time in the garage - anything mechanical. Not a big fan of museums. Use, ride and enjoy your bikes!
Apologies for the poor pictures - Pulled the 225E and tender off the shelf for better pictures. Will do the same for 5344 in another reply. These units are fairly heavy - perhaps it is 2 lbs of dust balls!! Any significance of the tender 2225W??
Thanks - do not want to spend any $$ on this bike. I have some schwinn sting rays that I am more willing to spend $$. Will paint the Huffy parts and see what kind of attention it draws. Have a girls Huffy same vintage that may attract attention as a pair. Not sure of the market for the Huffy...
Thank you for the advice. I am not inclined to spend any $$, my efforts are to "dust off", keep original, inflate, make operational and sell. Am inclined to spry the sissy bar black as all chrome is obliterated by rust. What do you think about that one mod? Also, what options for the rusty...
Thank you for the assistance. Attached are pictures of the frame and wheels. Apologies for the lighting/pictures. Still searching the barn/garage for any additional parts that could belong to this bicycle. I do not understand why the right side rear has no drop out to match the left side?? Can...
These 2 Lionel engines and tenders have been collecting dust atop my bookshelves for years. Plucked them from my grandads garage several decades ago - pictures are not great. One engine is #5344 New York Central tender; the other engine is #225E Lionel Lines tender. I have some other cars...
What to do?? Huffy Stingray Bike is all original - to include the tires. Chain is toast, so that will be replaced. Hate to sink a lot of $$ in parts - seat sissy bar is totally rust - should I paint black or rechrome- do I restore attempt a restoration or sell as is?? What are your thoughts?
I came into possession of a Sunbeam bicycle frame - I believe I found the wheels also. Need help identifying what I have and how to go about putting all together. Serial # on the left rear dropout is U3847. Any assistance is appreciated, As of now all I have is some assorted parts.
I picked this bike up recently - appears all original Serial #2LN099 with normal wear; nice paint and easy rider. would appreciate any feedback on this bike or any interest?
Thank you for the information and feedback. Was debating whether to keep the Grand Prix ? sell? or trade? What do you think it is worth? Serial # 2LN099
Nothing earth shattering - but unearthed a Sears made in Austria Sturmey Archer 3 speed; Just needs some tubes and should be ready to roll come Spring thaw. Anybody interested in buying this?
Good to hear this story Mike. You are a good man. My father in law passed recently and he collected - everything - everything! Found a '72 Lime super sport in the shed rafters; nice twice for my '71 Lemon SS!
