Wish they would've gotten the rear carrier and crash guards right on these. I'd have to switch that out if I bought one.

Gotta be a 57...look at the 57 Chevy tail fin motif on the tank and chainguard. So often these bikes echo styling of the auto industry of the day.

Another view, showing the slot for the wire to the switch. Same tank was used on early 50s Hawthorne "All-American" and Hiawatha "Chippewa" model bicycles. Hawthorne tank shown here.

The ad shows horn button top, right tank. The ad is from 1951. The eBay tank also lacks the slot on the top, right tank to accommodate the wire leading to the turn-signal switch.

Must be a very early version of the tank, with the horn in the left side. This would NOT be a correct tank for a Western Flyer Super of the 50's.

Awesome find, Dave. Strange indeed that it had turn-signals and no switch. I have a Hawthorne "All America " like the one in this pic...which has the chrome tanks, fenders, etc...and I think it's a later model than yours- 1953 or 54 maybe(?) Does anyone know for sure what year it would be...
