This is a Crown from the early to mid-1920's, just before they stopped production. This frame style was only used for "house" bikes at this late period, as in the early 20's they made this frame exclusively for export(contract), like Elgin/Sears, Hawthorne/Monkey-Wards, etc. A little birdie told...
pics
hi, I can't tell by the pics but is the sprocket and crank stamped Fauber? ...and is a crisper image/s possible of the hardware that is here? thanks==...I may have an extra nut...I'll have to look :):p
Scarce CYCLING ART BOOK, 1889
Howdy pedal-folk! Here is a super-scarce ORIGINAL copy of Cycling Art, Energy, and Locomotion, from 1889. A prized possession that is being sacrificed to finance other projects. This is one of a very few copies in existence that is privately owned, although it was...
SOLD! Super Nice 1946 COMPAX
Howdy post-war(but war-affiliated) fans! The price of this barely-ridden(if at all) mid-year 1946 Westfield(Columbia) Sports Traveler is $750 shipped(lower 48).
:D
SOLD! Thanks Scott/CABE==
The 50 photos (LINK BELOW) shows many many details of any flaws...

Greetings==== nice to see a ladies survivor. This is without a doubt post WW1, and if the graphics were visible, I could date it either pre or post 1920. ....(if it was here, I 'd be stripping the paint for you!) LOL
Have fun with this beauty. Any more ?s, lmk. :P
Richard:)
Have no fear guys....the 2 extra holes here were from the factory, as this badge came from a juvenile bike, with a short head-tube. The screws had to be closer together to clear the bearing cups. This badge design dates from pre-WW1, and after 1912-ish. Nice badge..congrats and enjoy. GW rules!:p
Have a Sports Traveler for sale
Greetings==I have a mid-1946 Sports Traveler for sale. It is in almost "unridden" condition, one of the nicest 100% originals that exist. It's red. Shipped @ $800. PM for extensive pics. ==Thanks, Richard
Mead
Sorry for the late response! LOL We've probably talked since..but I just was perusing old posts for misc. photos. This is GW made, most components; frame, fenders, fork, and of course crankset. Mead assembled these bikes from the ordered parts. The clue on fenders...GW was the only...
Not at GW
I realize different size sprockets were available, and people switched for ratio...but this was done after the fact(with this set), wasn't done at the GW factory, and chances are wasn't done at the dealer/distributor. Knowing what I do about this factory's practices, I'm playing...
Reading Standard
A very nice original find== Congrats! This one was made just after WWI, as that was when GWM was pushing the RS name. There are a few parts left over on this from RS in PA. They had been making these for a few years for the PA. firm, but acquired all rights to the...
Fauber Crankset
greetings..nice clean crankset... This is a ladies crank, having the dogleg and being only 6.5" long at the arm. Men's cranks were 7" (center of crossover-stock to center of pedal hole) Also, the ladies sprockets were 7.5" in diameter, the men's are 8.5". If this sprocket is the...
Fauber "Swiss Star" sprocket(my nickname)
Hi Tom! finally figured this out! It is a nice sprocket/crankset. It is missing the all-important threaded bearing cups that screw in the bottom bracket. Not very many loose cups turn up anywhere...usually they come with the crankset, or are already in...
If this is the correct recent inquiry ....this sprocket could be from a tandem ..but definitely has been modified for whatever application this ended up for. I have never seen any factory bike application for this set-up...tandem sprockets usually were of the star or multi-circle design(the...
Crown
It's always exciting for me to see an original Crown/Great Western survivor! This was made just before the war, or "assembled" just after. Being that GW was one of only 3 companies allowed to still produce during the war(they made bikes for the military), they had bikes/parts (their own...
Non-Stamped Fauber
hey guys! Hey Patric!..I don't get on here very often but I thought I'd interrupt the thread;) The star sprocket is indeed one of the more rare designs by Fauber. This is a contracted bike, meaning the crank/sprocket is probably not stamped Fauber(and indeed it is not). Great...
Cyrus
...also another confirmation here is the zinc badge....same as the other known example..test blanks for the left-over die perhaps...(just noticed your badge was damaged) disregard selling it...it is just a trinket keepsake!
@Krautwaggen...thanks for the kind words my-friend!
Cyrus==DPH HPS
BlueTarp is on it...
greetings from the CrownKing.....
If your bike had a GW/Cyrus badge on it......this Cyrus is actually a Rollfast and was made by HPSnyder, distributed by DPHarris in the later 1930's. Actually, I thought I would never see another one of these misfit...

Hello, nice bike. This one dates to pre-WWI. (c.1912)
I noticed the frame is damaged/repaired on downtube just behind the headtube. Just fyi for those interested. I bet it rides nice with those balloooooonies. Best of luck. <:)
Cyrus?
Hi Mike...I have a lot of thoughts on this bike. First a couple questions. Do the truss rods meet into one(brazed together at top) and is there just one nut on top? Is the rear clip inside rear fender for the drop-stand brazed-in or screwed on?
For now, I can tell you this is a...
Hello, great bike! Exciting to see yet another beautiful original. That round decal and the graphics date this to either 1919, to 1920. The white graphics changed slightly after 1920. Congrats on the superb find!
GW produced bikes until late 1926.
GW Arch-Bar
...for now I can tell you that your arch-bar dates to 1918 or 1919. It is a fine original example of one of the lower-percentage ornamental GW frames from the period...meaning that a low percentage of total "house" bikes were non-diamond frames. Unfortunately, the serial numbers...

AWESOME FIND!!
This one is a transition motorbike. Date according to the badge variation is late 1914-1917. My educated stab is 1915. This frame wasn't made for more than a year. Incorrect parts are both fenders, the h-bars are dealer-installed or added by someone. Rare accessory and...

Cyrus
hey Chad, awesome find! It is very exciting to see another survivor from this factory. The date on this is close to accurate, at 1914-15-16. It can be dated by crank design, paint color, and sprocket machining........This is a great original specimen, and as a historian I wouldn't touch a...
