Serial number reads M229830

My dad found this Speedway Special at a garage sale. It's pretty rough. The frame was rewelded and the fork is bent. I added a seat and a new front tube to make it rideable. Just wondering what year and who made it.

Thanks for the info. This bike came with Mavic open sport rims with Panasonic panaracer tires. Would those be the correct rims for this bike?

I picked this up a few months ago. It had the incorrect wheels on it when I bought it. Last week I picked up a junker with a little 500 rear rim and tire. Now if I can find a front rim I will be set.

I recently picked up this bike. I can't find any information on this maker other than their motorcycles and mopeds. Just wondering if it is something rare that I should put some effort into saving or if I should pass it on to a collector who would enjoy it. It has some nice parts.

The license stickers are 1945, 1946 and I'm guessing the head tube license would be 44. The metal plate is dated 47.

Nice find. You even got the correct sissy bar. Throw some white walls on there to really make it pop.

Great looking bike. Please do not paint it. You need the rat trap pedals to complete this bike. Also you might want to get some new brake pads if you plan on riding it. The originals are hard as a rock they will damage your rims. That's how bikes end up with brake burn.

Def not a 63. 63 frames were short. You could not get a mag sprocket on a shorty frame. It would not fit.

Anybody have a matching tank for this? I don't want to spend a lot. Let me know what you have. Pat

I got some work done in this bike tonight. I installed the new white wall tires, rebuilt the rear hub and replaced the bottom bracket. It looks so much better now and rides a lot better too.

Serial number is B99264. There is nothing welded on the frame by the brake arm but the frame has extra metal by the seat post tube. I read on another site that the brake arms weren't welded on the earlier whizzer bikes but I don't know if this is considered an early whizzer or not. I am...

I don't mess with master links. They are a pain. I just use the old chain tool to remove all my chains. Its just so much easier.

It is a whizzer bike. The kick stand is tapered. Hopefully I can get the crank pulled sometime soon to see what year it is. I will take a closer look at the serial number also.

I just picked this up today off craigslist. Its rough but almost all there. I've been looking for a pre war bike for a while now but I finally settled for post. Maybe someday I will find a nice pre war. I don't know what year it is yet or what model. I am checking out some tanks on ebay.

I just picked this up last week because I knew it would sell for way more than what I paid for it. I just didn't know how much it was worth. I do like the looks of it. It's the first seat of its style I have owned. I am a muscle bike guy so this is new territory for me.
