This is a surface-rusty 1953 Raleigh Superbe Sports Tourist ladies' frameset (Model 24L), with original locking fork (no key), fenders, bottom bracket cups and spindle, and headset (minus lamp bracket). Can include a 1970's era Raleigh crankset too.
Despite the cosmetics, this thing is solid...
Quick preface: I've done some Google-fu and near as I can figure it, this is a '55 Mainliner underneath the repaint, but I am by no means sure of it - especially since the chainguard doesn't add up to catalog photos of the time. If not, feel free to chime in.
This is a presentable 1950's...
Perhaps you've seen it on FeeBay, but listing it here with a lower price than that. $500 + actual shipping cost via BikeFlights.

This is a 1975 Raleigh...
Good used wheelset pulled from a 1973 Schwinn Super Sport; suitable for Super Sports, Sports Tourers, and Superiors. Can be used on the 27"-compatible Paramounts as well, though not strictly correct or original.
Wheelset is comprised of Weinmann 27" single-wall aluminum rims with Schwinn...
This Troxel saddle came off my recently-acquired Mk.1 Moulton (thread at BF C&V here, for those curious) and I believe it is the Saddle of Much Pain model. It is not the original to the bike, based on the catalogs, and I'm glad the good Dr. Moulton did not specify it, as it is singlehandedly the...
Used, decent shape, though it appears as if someone cleaned them up with a slightly rougher abrasive than I would have preferred. Shouldn't be difficult to repolish these out to a nice shine with polishing sticks.
I haven't had them laced up, so I don't know how much of a bump the rim join has...
Original pull-off from a 1973 Schwinn Super Sport, original right down to the Sunset Orange bar tape. It's not perfect and could be polished up, but they're a good starting point already in good shape.
Stem has a 21.1mm (0.833") quill diameter (will not fit 22.2!) and 95mm extension. Bars are...
Sorry to bump up a thread from 2016, but after running into this result on a Google search, I thought I'd share a bit of clarity regarding the model names for anyone else who might wind up seeing this later on as well.
Until the late-1950s - pretty much just before the TI takeover - there was a...
Thanks for that; always thought Sheldon's classification of F12 as a Canadian size was incorrect. Interesting that it gives a shoutout for the Schwinn S7 nomenclature of 26x1-3/4".
I'll put a bet to it the OP's '79 also has this size (and that my previous 559 theory was incorrect).
-Kurt
That settles that then; more likely than not it's 571 on the OP's bike.
Do they have an English tire size code on them, in addition to the fractional size? F12 by chance?
-Kurt
The change in government wouldn't necessarily have changed existing commerce with the UK or importers established with TI/Raleigh; it's definitely a model intended for export.
Even though it's a Nottingham-built bike by the headbadge, the decal set is specifically export oriented, retaining...
Pretty sure @kingsting will be able to clarify. The OP's 26" rim diameter measured ~24" according to their reply at BikeForums, so it's probably 559.
-Kurt
Thanks for reminding me that these exist; I forgot that Raleigh did make some of the otherwise standard 28" frames with conventional ISO 559 26" tires and Westwood rims to match. That's likely what the OP has.
I think it's safe enough to call these DL-1 variants. Not likely DL-1 in actuality by...
I already posted this on the concurrent thread on BikeForums, but figured I'd copy here:
Decal set firmly sets it in the "1973 or later" camp. Apparently, T-Mar (one of our members there) got to see the serial number in a picture I haven't seen; the serial indicates December 1979.
That said...
The rims on these are a bit past it, unless you think you can oxalic acid some miracles. '75 hub.
$50 for the pair as you see them + actual shipping to your location or local PU in Miami, Florida.
I had some sort of stupid weak moment at a yard sale and bought this thing thinking I could use it as a prop for a video where I could backdate an entire scene - but I think half of the desire was just to cold-set the frame, in that some youths had definitely "enjoyed" this thing and twisted the...
Pretty much an original Twenty, decent enough to be presentable, but also a ball of spiderweb rust depending on how you look at it. Pretty much all original, including the oddball Altenberger brake equipment instead of the usual Weinmann. Grips are spot-on repros of the original Dare grips...
Reducing to $200 + actual BikeFlights shipping cost.
FYI, I discovered that the smallest cog on the original Schwinn Approved Model J (Shimano) freewheel is worn and skipping. I have another cog on the way. Crossing my fingers that there isn't enough chain stretch to prevent the donor from...
A shame to hear this.
However, all things considered, FedEx's delivery subcontractors (most routes are operated for FedEx independents) can very easily treat a package with the same lack of care as UPS. That's not to say that UPS has a stellar reputation - they most certainly don't - but using...
This one popped up locally a while ago - it was looking a bit worse for wear and I took pity on it. Gave it a good cleaning, straightened the fork, polished up a few bits, and here it sits.
This is a 22" frame measured to the top of the seat tube extension (as Schwinn did it BITD). This isn't...
Looking for a 1950's (pre-TI) 32 hole, EA3 Raleigh rim - the type with the matte center, like the photo below.
Would also consider a complete wheel if it has an original front hub, preferably not a Dynohub (it's for a Superbe with an AG) but will consider a wheel w/a Dynohub if the price is...
EDIT: STEM FOUND. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO REPLIED.
Title says all. Don't need anything fancy. It's for a restomodded '49 Schwinn D37X (it had a Schwinn razor stem on it which I've since pulled).
Can be later production (until '66) or any form of repop, but it needs to be nice and presentable. It...
The all-red 531 frameset was a 1986 thing only. The red/black is standard faire for 1987, and it was in '84/85 too (albeit with different decals and significantly different frame details).
"WP7..." would definitely correlate '87. Also, here's an identical (except for frame size) '87 on Flickr...
Looks like a 1987 or 1988 "531 frameset" - basically a production Team Pro replica that was not built by the SBDU division.
It's not far removed from the same offering in the '86 catalog, though by '87, they had fitted the replicas with seatstay caps that look like the SBDUs instead of the...
I'm modernizing a garden-variety 1980 Raleigh Sports and would like to dig up one of the modern square-taper Heron cranksets from a Chopper Mk3, or the blacked out version from a 2008 Raleigh P.U.B. for it - like these:
I don't really care what it comes off of (the 2019 US-market Raleigh...
Unusual and eclectic export model made for the Caribbean/ South/Central American market, 7 years after Raleigh dropped the Rudge name in the US and UK markets.
Fantastic condition, features the following:
Sturmey-Archer Dynothree
Sturmey dry battery unit / headlight system...

I purchased both bikes locally back in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Following are their individual stories:
E7009 was purchased off of Craigslist and rebuilt to original specifications from a frameset that was paired with its original drivetrain and headset. Little of the rest was original...
Good to know. What details betray its origins? I notice that the Murphy bike (and a few other images I've dug up) have different dropouts and seatstay-to-seatlug arrangements.
-Kurt
This is the best I can do. Note the keyhole-style cottered cranks - a design far superior to the conventional cottered crank that became the norm until the 1980's.
A few other photos:
Just a brace of random, late '50s Schwinn middleweights of varying condition, one Huffy, and a J.C...
What's more, it outclasses a Peugeot UO-8 in lightness as well - no more than 25 pounds or so, despite its appearance; about on par with a Paramount P13/15/10. Quite a shock, given what it looks like.
-Kurt
Hello all; long-time resident of Bikeforums.net Classic & Vintage (VLW collector) here.
I stumbled upon this machine during a job that I've been doing for the last two days; figured I would share the photos here as well:
It's not a Wright Van Cleve, but the tubing, lugs, and "Ferrier"...
