My guess is that they used up the prewar inventory on the post war bikes, before switching to the dogbone style rockers. The dogbone style rockers should also have a different truss bar setrup going up to the torsion spring...

fordmike65, its the same light, however the Colson version is ALL chrome, and the Rollfast has a painted rear ball section...

Good morning all, I am still on the hunt for a Colson Imperial cast grill(s), & post war head light mount. The cast grill is the same for the 1939, 1941 & postwar bikes. The headlight mount is post war specific... I would consider buying an entire carcass to get these parts... Thank you!!

I do believe that the steer tube for Looptail bikes are the same from boys to girls bikes. (26" anyway)

Sorry for being a dope, I thought you guys were looking for the frame serial number... The badge that is on the bike now is NOT original. I have a buddy that has several scrap frames so, we found a badge dated from the first 3rd of 1977. But again this is NOT the original badge!!!

For reference, the serial number appears to be centered on the front of the headtube...

The F in the serial number confirms that it started life as a Bullnose. The fenders are not correct to the looptail style frame, they should not have the duckbill on the bottom. (braces are wrong too) My guess is that the crank assembly & fenders came from a Elgin/JC Higgins...
