Not ruining the hobby
I don't think he's going to ruin the hobby at all. I think he's going to have that bike for quite some time, and finally get tired of it and sell it to someone who will paid a reasonable price.
These things work themselves out. No buyers, the price comes down.
Sounds like fun, and no fee
MAN, this sounds like a fun event! Sadly I have other commitments on that day.
I will soon be a Concord, NH. resident!! I'll be going to this bike shop on a regular basis I'm sure.
Can someone buy them from Cory and ship?
Hey! just had a thought. Could someone who is willing to ship wheel sets buy the rims from Cory (for a reasonable profit)and resell them to me and I'll pay the shipping?
It's a 1959 schwinn approved
My three speed is a Schwinn approved (if that what SA means) made in Austria. It is original to my 1959 jaguar.
I will include the whole three speed system. The shifter, the whole rear wheel, cable for your single speed rear wheel.
Ya, I would need one with very good chrome, no dents, but thanks anyway.
So still on the look out for s7 rim with good working coaster brake, and good chrome.
I would take a bendix brake. I'm just used to ND As long as the brake work good and the rim is in good shape.
I'm just not into lacing a wheel, would rather just wrap it out.
Hey Gordon
Does the rim have very good chrome and does the coaster brake work?
I'm partial to New departure but will consider other brakes, but no Mark 4s
I have a 3spd s7 rim Excellant chrome that I want to trade for a single spd new departure coaster brake s7 rim.
I will include the 3 speed shifter, and the cable with the rim.
Thanks jim
I have a 3speed Schwinn jaguar, and I'm thinking of swapping out the rear wheel for one with a single speed New Departure hub.
I find the three speed to be an annoyance, especially when I'm pedaling along and it pops out of gear. I can never get it tuned exactly right.
Anyone have a nice...
Great shirts!
I also got a shirt from zazzle. Great shirts! Mine features a balloon tire bike with a rider saying "Holy Crap bikes are fun!"
Kind of expensive, but high quality shirts, Great colors.
I was there!
AH! you were there! I was there on Saturday also. I didn't see any other classic bikes. Your right not that bike friendly, but I wanted to show the bike off, and see if anyone else was there.
I had my bike chained to the fence at the beer tent, A LOT of people took pictures of...
I have this ladies elgin serial#47969 with I believe stainless steel fenders. can anyone help dating this bike, and maybe provide anymore info on it?
Thanks jim
Keep it.
I'm thinking as it is a different color than the bike frame, it's probalbly added after purchase, but I'd keep it on there.
They customized their bikes back then to meet their needs.
Not a bike event, but it their annual Market Day June 25-27 All the local craft people and artists occupy main st and show off their work. Fun event and good shopping, and they have a BEER tent!
I'll be there with one of my bikes. Hope to see some others
mark VI brake no good.
I had a mark IV BRAKE on a 1959 hornet, and no matter what I did, including bringing it to a bike shop. We could not make it work. I finally replaced it with a New Departure.
1942 Hawthorne Victory Model Bikes, built for utility for victory.
Very plain, no frills. Does anyone have one? I had one years back, It was the first balloon tire bike I got, and a ladies model that I got from the original owner.
If any of you has one, I'd like to trade, or purchase it...
Wow, Use standard paint stripper like strip-ease, or something comparable. Acetone is way to harsh.
Stripper is easy to brush on and wipe/scrap off, then steel wool.
Nice Find!
This is a great bike for your daughter! Overhauling the bearings is very easy Looks like a very easy clean up.
There is no bad news with this bike, you can even reuse the same bearings, just soak them in solvent to dissolve old grease and reinstall with fresh grease. This bike has...
Hello
How do you mount Pre Balloon tire tires? I have never had an antique bike as in pre 1930s. Are they glued on, I don't imagine their clincher are they?
thanks
Could some of you give me an idea of how much it would cost to plate and set of rims?
How much do you have to clean them? and lastly can anyone tell me where I can have this done?
Thanks
Thanks cfry526! Hey mike j I was hoping you would pipe in! Are there any others out there?
I guess it's obvious, I'm really into the compax bikes. Can't get enough.
Hey mike j what year is yours?
Of all the owners of Compax paratroopers, How many of us paint them O.D.? obviously we wouldn't repaint good original paint bikes, but the ones in which the paint, and chrome are gone.
I have noticed that of the many I've seen (mine included), most are military OD.
In my case I simply...
Hi Hans
To answer your question, I put about 30lbs of air in my new tires. I always put a new set of tires on bikes I intend to ride on a regular basis.
Maybe I can help.
Hi Tad
I live in Woburn, ma 12miles north of Boston. I'm not to anxious to drive through Boston to get to Dorchester, but Maybe I can help.
Let me know.
jim
The rack should fit just fine. There is not much difference in the way rear racks fit especially if their both the same make.
So by your user name I'm guessing you also collect military jeeps?
