I have a 3spd s7 rim Excellant chrome that I want to trade for a single spd new departure coaster brake s7 rim.
I will include the 3 speed shifter, and the cable with the rim.

I have a 3speed Schwinn jaguar, and I'm thinking of swapping out the rear wheel for one with a single speed New Departure hub.
I find the three speed to be an annoyance, especially when I'm pedaling along and it pops out of gear. I can never get it tuned exactly right.
Anyone have a nice...
I have this ladies elgin serial#47969 with I believe stainless steel fenders. can anyone help dating this bike, and maybe provide anymore info on it?
Thanks jim

1942 Hawthorne Victory Model Bikes, built for utility for victory.
Very plain, no frills. Does anyone have one? I had one years back, It was the first balloon tire bike I got, and a ladies model that I got from the original owner.
If any of you has one, I'd like to trade, or purchase it...
Hello
How do you mount Pre Balloon tire tires? I have never had an antique bike as in pre 1930s. Are they glued on, I don't imagine their clincher are they?
thanks
Could some of you give me an idea of how much it would cost to plate and set of rims?
How much do you have to clean them? and lastly can anyone tell me where I can have this done?
Thanks
Of all the owners of Compax paratroopers, How many of us paint them O.D.? obviously we wouldn't repaint good original paint bikes, but the ones in which the paint, and chrome are gone.
I have noticed that of the many I've seen (mine included), most are military OD.
In my case I simply...
Does anyone know of a source of cheap seat covers? Not sheepskin, but a canvas, or fabric material.
I can't afford to properly restore the seat or the whole bike for that matter, I'm more into preserving my bikes and riding them.
I'm looking for something with maybe a pull string around...
I've done these overhauls before, not too bad to do. This time I replaced the three sets of ball bearing, and the disk set. I aligned all the disks with a straight edge and for the life of me I could not slide the assembly back into the hub without knocking the disks out of alignment...
How do you keep the fender rivets from rotating when you are tightening the nut on the under side? There no slot in the top of the rivet to hold it in place. Thanks jim
I have a westfield with a slightly bent fork, it's not twisted at all just pushed straight back slightly. Is there anyone out there who can fix this?
thanks jim
I have two paratrooper bikes and one is a 1946 with a brass headbadge, the other has a silver colored headbadge. I'm wondering why there is a difference in the material used. The one with the silver badge I don't have the serial number yet. I will know what it is tomorrow.
Is Mr Columbia out...
Very plain, something that would look okay on a compax paratrooper. I want it to have a "1940s" look. Does not have to date to the forties. Also does not have to be a westfield, any make will do. Repaint preferred, it will be repainted to match bike.
Thanks jim c

I make Toy Soldiers for Museum Gift Shops. I would like to offer them for sale here if that is okay. They are make from the old fashioned clothes pins.
I am trying to make some money to purchase a compax paratrooper bike.
The soldiers are offered at $4. each. Free...
My New departure coaster brake, really squeals when I apply the brake hard. I'm wondering if adding oil into the oil hole will fix this? and how much oil do you add?
The brakes work great, just have the squeal.
Thanks jim c
How many paratroopers are out there? I have one, a 1946 balloon tire. I would like to have more. Both balloon tire and light weights.
Mine is painted olive drab, but it's not a military bike. I just like it this way, and the original paint was gone.
Anybody got one for sale?
Colors avaliable for 1959 Jaguars
I just saw this picture in one of the posts and I am wondering if there are any other colors that the Jaguar came in.
My apologies for using this picture without permission, but it's beautiful!
I've been pondering this for a few weeks now and am trying to figure how to mount a fishing pole to my middleweight Schwinn. I like the attention my bike gets riding around the local pond, and I like to fish. Any ideas?
I figured pvc tubing to hold the handle end for the first 6" or so before...
I found that installing a rear wheel in a Schwinn middleweight very difficult, because the stays that hold the rear dropout are to close together.
Does anyone else find this to be true? You have to pull the dropouts outward and need a third hand to slide the wheel in.
This is not the only...

I have this bike I need to part with. I'm in a financial situation so I hope you will not mind the way I offer this.
I don't know how much to ask for this but because of my situation I can't afford to underprice it the way I usually do.
So If members who are interested in this...
Found this photo Of Barney Fife in one of the Andy Griffith show files. Looks like a middleweight Schwinn Corvette? Early sixties I think with that chainguard.
I still like that show I was oppie's age like in the picture there.
Hey Cabers
I'm looking for bikes that date to 1958, either ballooners, or middleweights. My birth year. I had a 1958 cycletruck but I got rid of it like a fool. I don't have much to trade, but I'd like to see whats out there.
Can you all show what you got? I'd love to see pics, even if you...
Okay, I've seen the thread about wasps not supposed to have painted rims, and I agree that Schwinn did things that are NOT in their catalogs.
So I'll start with my example. I have a 1952 Starlet in blue with white trim. Nowhere in any catalog is there any mention of a blue starlet yet here...
I recently obtained a tank for my middleweight jaguar and I purchased a set of screws, there were two large screws for the tank, and two short screws for the horn unit. When I went to install the tank I noticed that it requires three screws to hold the tank on the frame.
Is THAT THE NORM? I...
I recently got a front rack for my middleweight and discovered that it had an extention where you could lift the front end up and it would allow for a larger item to be held down by the spring. It says Schwinn approved so I know it correct, but some other rack do not extend I noticed Is this an...
Without damaging the original paint? I recently purchased an original tank in the color I need, but the decal is yellow when I need it in white. Is there a decal remover?
I really want to find a red tank for my 1959 jaguar. Does anyone have one? I need it to be in good condition with good original paint.
The jaguar I have is I a 8-9 condition so tank has to match.
Thanks jim
I see a lot of middleweights here but none of them are springers! Does anyone have a springer middleweight they want to show off?
I had a beautiful 1959 Middleweight Springer Green Hornet. Nice original green paint. I replaced or replated all the seedy chrome, replaced the nasty spokes with...
I just receive a 3 speed jaguar from Ups and the rear fender is crunched, which is fixable, BUT what really has got me po'd is that the little chain that goes into the rear hub is broken!
The chain is only about 1 1/4" inches long and is attached to a rod that is 2 1/4" inches long which...
Heavily painted in grey house paint. chrome on chainring is good, no pits on chainring. Handlebar is rough, fender has numerous dents, can be rolled. Tire hold air. Has new Departure brake which "kind of work" will need to be cleaned and overhauled. S/N F200398
$100. PLUS $60 FOR SHIPPING or...
I have a 1952 Schwinn Starlet in a light blue with white trim and I'm confused because I can'not find any literature that shows a starlet in blue for that year.
I checked Schwinn ads and none of them list blue as a color offered.
I don't have a photo of bike or the serial# handy but I did...
I like the compax paratrooper bikes The heavy civilian model. Made by westfield, and Columbia. Their funky look appeals to me.
How many members here have one of more?

Hi I'm wondering what a 1937-1938 schwinn headbadge looks like. Would it be the standard oval badge with schwinn in vertical letters? I know there are many other schwinn badges, but would the oval one be correct?
Thanks jim c.
Does anyone out there have a Western Flyer Headbadge like the one pictured? I need one in fairly good shape.
Let me know what you want for it.
Thanks very much jim c. woburn, ma.
I was given a bike this week. It is missing the headbadge and is repainted. I just saw an identical bike on ebay that has a western flyer headbadge, peaked, or gothic fenders, and a front sprocket that has four large hole cutouts with four smaller hole cutouts inbetween. The one on ebay has an...
I tend to collect the plainer unequippt bikes from the 1930s - 1940s I also like to put big wire baskets on the front handlebars so you can actually do errands with them. Am I in the minority? How many of you collect the more utilitarian bikes?
Painted rims, blackwall tires, basket.
