Missing the bezel and reflector and rotten on the bottom but the top and insides are not bad. Repair it for a place holder or use it for parts. $25 shipped.
Nice bike original working light and horn and nice original seat. Big correct prewar Torringon bars. More pictures soon. Local pickup in Sonoma County Ca.
The giveaway is the chrome top of the clamp and the pivot screw. If you paint and patina the clamp and patina the screw 98% of collectors will not spot the repop unless you point it out.
One detail I did not mention is you need to cut the decal to shape after applying the clear coat or the clear coat could keep it stuck to the carrier sheet.
Most prewar legs have a bend or two in them. Unless they are super roached you should be able to fix them with a little work. If you need a steer tube you can cut down a post war unit (much easier to find)
When I use a repop I glue it in place because they tend to slide down the frame and risk damage.
I did have a NOS original that did not need glue but it did need a moment in boiling water to be supple enough to be installed without cracking.
Never got around to using this paint stencil set. This is the frame set and fork set, fender set and tank set, should be all you need to paint your 41 or early postwar DX including the quality seal decals. Same stencils sold on ebay. $25 shipped.
Set is to paint one like this
Matching key and tumbler. Tumbler needs a small amount of paint removed but still will not be as nice as the key. Lock pins don't seem to pop up so any key would turn it but it hold onto the key like it should. $63 shipped
Looks like someone added the wiring and switch to upgrade to a silveray light. If you ever have the tank open would be interested to see how they set up the batteries. Really cool vintage modification. Rack was probably added to the bike at some point in the past also.
