Sharing the joy of riding toys with the next generation.

I enjoy fixing up old riding toys but it's even more fun sharing them with the next generations and experiencing their joy. Latest addition to my collection is this 1958 Hamilton Jeep pedal car. I've wanted one for a while since I like Jeep vehicles.

Fender lights / lamps identification question, are these lamps specific to any bicycle?

Question: I have a couple fender lights / lamps and wonder if they are specific to any particular bicycle or are they generic aftermarket lamps? Also within the collection community, is there an identifying name either of these lamps are typically known by? For instance I know what a JC Higgins...

    TOC Corbin Hub Rebuild

Most of these early brake hubs have so little friction surface area they are rather ineffective at stopping. Some were even stated in advertisements to be speed controllers not necessarily actual brakes. Best thing to do for improving friction is use a rather thin grease such as white lithium or...

Scooter Trike? - Anyone know what this is or who may have produced it?

After a bit more digging on the internet it seems that "Bilt Rite Products Co" produced quite a variety of items especially during the late 1940's through 1950's. If anyone can locate an advertisement for the convertible trike above I sure would appreciate them posting it. Thanks in advance.

Help ID my french childrens tricycle (late 19th Century I think)

This site is just as prone to scams as other sites, I suspect an offer of $300-$500 is probably a scam as I doubt any collector would seriously offer that much for this item. If I were you, make sure you have money in hand before shipping.

Need some help dating a wood wheel bike for a friend

Appears to have quite a bit of chrome plating which really did not begin to be used for bicycles or automobiles until 1928/29 so I would say this bike is most likely 1930's

Help ID my french childrens tricycle (late 19th Century I think)

In my opinion this was never more than garden ornamentation not an actual child's tricycle. We see these replicas from time to time and I believe this is one of them. Just looks too crude, flimsy, poorly built to me to be an actual child's toy.

Mike, Good point about securing the wire ends when using the wire twist method. I can't say that I ever saw the ends of the wire poke through the rubber but I can see how that may be possible. How was this done? Installing solid rubber tiring with wire twisting method.

John, that is helpful information that the wire was "very soft" which explains why the wire twisting method in my original image would be difficult to accomplish today with the current wire available. It also appears that the center hole in the CAB rubber of my original image is larger in...

How was this done? Installing solid rubber tiring with wire twisting method.

Yes, that is one of my suspicions, that the rubber was compressed and wire was twisted to a pre-determined length while tire was off the rim then rolled onto the rim afterward. I don't know this to be true but just a guess on my part. Hopefully someone knows for sure or I can eventually find a...

@Freqman1, Thank you however the tools shown on that RBR webpage I am already familiar with, they are used for pulling the wire tight and the rubber spreader shown on that website only holds the rubber apart by a couple inches for the return twist method used by Greg Barron owner of RBR company...

I don't know who produced the bicycle in your photograph however bikes with different size wheels 26" front 28" rear were often called "stayer-pace-following-bicycle" which might help in your search. Look closely at the patent image and the photograph. It appears the friction brake attachment uses a separate ring on the sprocket to apply the braking force to. The braking force is not applied directly on the chain.
