sale fell through
Ok back up with new info I forgot. The sale fell through because I forgot to add that the tank at one point in this bikes past someone drilled 4 holes on each side near the front to make the horn louder. To some me included this adds character to others I guess not. So here is...
Not sure I want to do this, but the wife lost her job and would like to do something nice for a vacation next year. So I am entertaining the idea of selling my 1941 roadmaster tall tank. It is in really nice shape and rides nice. Every thing works, but the rear tail lights. I got the lens for it...
So I have always liked the the 3 and 4 gill. I was actually looking for one when I ended up buying a tall tank instead. Now after seeing this I am thinking maybe the tall tank model is more rare than the 4 gill, but I maybe wrong. I just don't see the tall tanks anywhere and only that tank will...
Just found this online and thought I would share. Seems like a interesting idea especially if the light is just a shell and doesn't work. Cheap easy fix, or for updating without rewiring. Those little lights are bright too.

Ok just wanted to check one more time. I found a set, but they are pricey. Anyone else have a set they want to sell? I am just finding it hard to swallow $80 for two lens covers, but it maybe my only option other than none at all.
I guess I am sexist here. I don't like ever parting out a complete old bike, but it feels better if it is a womens bike. I think more of those survived. Yet their parts can be used to bring back some of the mens bikes from the dead. I guess I see both sides here.
Ok this is not my craigslist ad. I am using it because it is the only photo I have ever found that shows the lens I am looking for.
I have a 41 CWC roadmaster and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the two lens for the rear rack.

Did you try the mag light? Anyone try anything else? Not even sure if any local stores carry mag light bulbs.
Everything seems to be these really crappy philips. Not even close to a bulb from the 40's or 50's.
What do you guys do for light bulbs in your old bikes. I had some really old original bulbs in mine that still worked. They were bright has hell. Well when they broke I went and bought some bulbs from the hardware store that are for flash lights and these bulbs suck. They are not bright enough...
Light works perfect now and looks almost new. I have to admit this stuff is great. Thanks again. Saved me a butt load of time trying to get in there and sand those tiny parts in such a small space.
No it doesn't bother me to see bikes in Museums. I think that is a very important part of learning and capturing the history of bikes. Not to mention a great way to see an all original so you can do an accurate restoration. Not to mention I believe they are a form of art. I just grew up every...
I can understand some of that. I guess it is just my thinking. I hate the throw away society thing these days. I just believe in using things. Otherwise if you never plan to use it again sell it or give it to someone who will. I believe bikes were made to be riden and if taken care of can last...
Just an odd question. I guess I am not wired to understand this. I love the fact that we are able to find these old bikes and get them going again, but why the barn bike. Why would someone just put a bike or in some cases hundreds of bikes in old barns for 75 years to slowly rust away. What was...
Thanks for the tip. Seems to be working great. Should be done when I get home today. Had to move it this morning to get the other half in the liquid, but the half that was in last night looks like new.
Hey I am looking for the same thing. Can someone post a pic of it. I have a 41 roadmaster. Good luck and if you find more than one let me know.
I am also trying to find the light covers for the rear rack.
anyone know what this tail light/reflector was for or who made them? Age? I have one that came on my columbia, but it is not from them. It has a glass lense and inside is a wire and a bulb. The wire is the old cloth covered kind. There is a hole in the back you run the wire which is directly...
Hey I have 61 year old hand grips on my columbia and they slip and slide on the bars. What do you guys use to keep them in place so they don't come off while riding?
Thanks
T
Thanks, MrColumbia
Yeah I got it from one of the guys on here. He said it was a repo rack. So I would guess it is probably for the 80's or so. I just want to make sure it will fit. I don't mind drilling a new hole. I didn't even realize till after I paid for the light.
The rack doesn't have...
Hey I have a 51 5 star superb but the rear rack is a repo. The tail light for the original rack has two mounting bolts and the repo rear rack only has one hole. Is the light for the repo rack different? Or do I just need to drill another hole?
Just picked up a 1951 columbia superb. The front fender light doesn't work. outside looks good and most of the inside. Seems like the problem is the rust on the contact from the rear of the battery to the switch which just lets the rear from the battery contact the bottom of the light. The...
Hey new to this. Just picked up a 1951 columbia superb. The front fender light doesn't work. outside looks good and most of the inside. Seems like the problem is the rust on the contact from the rear of the battery to the switch which just lets the rear from the battery contact the bottom of the...
I am planning on coming. Incase anyone has what I am looking for
red 66 Murray meteor flite chain gaurd and rear rack.
41 cwc roadmaster light, horn unit, drop stand oh and the rear light covers for the rear rack.
Ok not sure how to test an old tank horn.
It is from an old 41 roadmaster. Just the horn battery holder
Is toast. So there are two screws one in the center on
The back and one near the edge. Then there is also a wire coming
Out of the back near one side. I want to see if it works and I just...
Ok this may seem like a dumb question, but what is with the old bikes from the 40's and 50's having leather straps on the hubs. Just loose. Was there a purpose for this or is it just what kids did back then?
I wonder how hard it is to find one of those lights. I only found one online it is looks too far gone. Too bent up. I guess I need to get in touch with the seller of the bike first.
Hi This was posted down in the craiglist section. I am local and was wondering what anyone could tell me about it before I call and go to check it out. Any idea of what a good offer would be? I don't seem to be able to find anything on a western flyer that looks like that. What year is it...
Wasn't really complaining just relating my experience. Oh and yes I am new to ebay, so I am still figuring it out. I apparently don't have the same options on my ebay app as you do on your computer. I have to put in my bid each time and up it as it gets out bid. If I could have put in my max at...
good deals too
There are good deals too. You just have to look really hard and hope you don't get sniped like I do all the time. I was just bidding on a really nice rollfast the other day. Put in a bid of $205 with like 3 seconds to go. I got sniped at one second left. It went for $207. Now...
Ok had to chime in on this one. I noticed that from day one. Then I started to notice the majority of the really crazy ones had the same white sheet back ground.
Then my wife sent me a web page of an online bike shop with some old parts for sale and old bikes. Every one of those bikes was from...
You could always look for a tank chain gaurd and a light. That will make the project last much longer. I truly love this bike by the way. I have one very similar. Great job. I like to see these come back from the grave.
Thanks,
She will never sell the Murray and unfortunatly the way that front rack is put on it is the crown chase. So it is what the bearings sit on. It had to be cut off with a hacksaw and filed smooth.
Hey I am from the Raliegh NC area and hardly ever see anything around here in the way of Tank bikes ballooners or middle weights. Are there many people on this site from this area? Are there ever swap meets or anything I should know about.
Wasn't sure where to put this thread so I put it...
Good for you. Good bike and good deal. Sorry wasn't trying to have you say how much you paid I was just curious if it was around or less then I offered him since it was a few months back. Interesting to hear that he was a middle man. He lied to me then. He told me it was part of his personal...
parts
If anyone knows where i could find the rear rack and chainguard let me know. I have looked a bit but haven't seen any.
Oh and I have a 41 cleveland welding company roadmaster so we can ride together. Just need to get the horn in the tank working. It has a head light just not in the...
I won that auction
Hi I tried to get that bike at a good price but the seller said he wanted between 550 and 600 for it. I won the aution the first time but didn't meet the reserve. I tried to get it for 400 but no deal. Just wondering if you got a better deal since he relisted it like 6 times...
