Just picked this Montgomery Ward up and looking for help with serial number ID to determine year of manufacture. Also does anybody know the year the Sears Slick was made? It came with a Troxel springer polo seat and handlebars I assume someone added...what would be the correct seat and...
Yes, the one shoe is cracked in half and when joined together the 2 pieces fit perfectly. When I got the bike the rear wheel was loose and sloppy and when taken apart I found the broken shoe, loose ball bearings (some missing) and alot of wear on the hub. This morning I cleaned and degreased all...
Wow, thanks so much for all the valuable info as it's very helpful. With all the stuff you provided I hope to find the cause and fix it. I really appreciate your extra effort posting all this good stuff. 👍
Thanks. I'm thinking the one pad is broken as the 2 smaller shoes aren't the same size. One edge on each is finished smooth and the other is uneven but they fit perfectly when held together and match the larger shoe. Thanks again for your thoughts and help
I have Bendix coaster brake problems. It is a Bendix RB2 from the mid 60's that when trying to pedal it slips and the pedals go around but the wheel won't turn. It wouldn't catch so I disassembled it and found that one of the brake shoes appeared to be snapped in half. Not sure if a broken brake...

I'm looking to buy a complete Schwinn 3 speed stik shift and cable that fits a 1969 Fastback if anyone has one to sell. I'm trying to avoid buying one off of feebay if I can
Please let me know if you have one
Thanks
UPDATE: Bought one so it is no longer needed...thanks
Thanks for the close up pic of the shifter and the green MK1. All of your stuff is really nice. I really appreciate your help and especially showing the Chopper you picked up for $1250...it really helps when trying to evaluate the value of a hard to find bike. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the comments. If the 5 speed derailleur model is somewhat rare and seeing that the paint and decals appear to be in fair shape what do you think it would it be worth after fixing it up making it correct? Might cost more than the end product would be worth.
Thanks for your thoughts and what beautiful Choppers you have! Very nice. About the orange five speed derailleur MK1 you posted, does that little shift knob shift the gears or does the larger shifter or both? Is one of those shifters a dummy or do both actually have a function?
Thanks again
OK so I'm wondering why I haven't got any of your opinions yet on this Raleigh MK1...are these Choppers not very popular here in the USA? They seem to sell on eBay for quite a bit of money so I thought they might be a popular muscle bike to collectors (big in the UK) but I guess I was wrong...
I'm looking for all opinions on the value of this Raleigh MK1 as well as observations pertaining to the bike's condition and needs. Does it look all original? In particular does it look like the 5 speed shifter is missing the smaller shift? Also how rare and sought after are these MK1 5 speeds...
I thought so but wanted verification from CABE experts, so I thank you all for your input and comments as they are all very helpful and much appreciated.
Take care
Mike
Here is a better pic of it but sorry still not the best. He wants $600 for it. I haven't seen the bike yet to check the serial number. I'm thinking it might be a 1955 Jag...seat doesn't look original though. Feel free to offer opinions and observations
Thanks
Anybody is welcome to tell me what you observe from these pics of a Jaguar I have an chance to buy. Sorry for the ratty pics but please tell me what you think and give me some idea of what it might be worth.
Thanks much!
I'm looking to buy a front rack made by Wald that fits the 16" Schwinn Run A Bout. Attached are pictures of the desired rack (measures 12" top X 12" legs) mounted on the bike. I'll pay top dollar for it so please let me know if you will sell me yours or know of one that I could buy...email me at...
I don't know what year this Montgomery Ward is but wonder if it's worth restoring. Please give opinions as my feelings won't be hurt if in your opinion it isn't salvageable. Sorry only 2 pics to see.
Thanks
I'm looking for any information anyone might have about this Hawthorne Montgomery Ward muscle bike including year and value. I only have these 2 pics available. The straight bar frame is cool... I haven't seen another like it. Information and opinions welcome.
Thanks
I soaked some old chrome fenders and rims in oxalic acid bath and when I rinsed with water some yellow residue remains and won't scrub off. These items came off a barn find where the chrome was pretty rusty and by looks I thought the plating was questionable to begin with. The rust is gone but...
Sorry, here is a picture of the kickstand. Also a few other pics...does anyone know if the red tape on the light looks original and are the pinstriped white wheels original? Any info about how many years Schwinn made Packards? Are there many around?
Thanx
Picked up this Arnold Schwinn Packard and would welcome any info anyone can offer on it and Packard bikes in general. It appears all original, Bendix rear hub, Troxel seat with rail and the serial number under crank is: CO7322. Would that put it in the 1930's? Are these Packard bikes rare and...
Thanks for the help. I saw the referenced Huffy links, and in the Raleigh Ron's classics link for 1972 it doesn't show this bike. The Dragster 3 pic looks close as far as frame(mine is shorter than the Judge or Slingshot) and fenders, but my bike has the same black striped seat as the Slingshot...
I'm looking to ID the model and year of this Huffy: serial@ 2H787147. Guessing it may be a 72, also looking for approximate value after clean-up. I have the original seat bar.
Thanks,
Mike
Just got this Shelby and would like opinions, year, value, ect. Looks like holes in top of front fender where light was maybe? Pedals, tires and grips not original. Not bad shape with cool pinstriping and New Departure hubs front and rear. Serial # in pic #4. Please fire away with your thoughts...
Just picked up this Roadmaster fresh from the barn with plenty of hair attached - Looks like it says "Cruising" on the chainguard. No tank with painted Schwinn seat and mismatched handgrips.
Looks like the frame has been welded in 2 places -- does that make the frame worthless? With these...
Whoa, never meant to ruffle any feathers. I dislike parting out anything this old and didn't buy it with that in mind, and besides I don't really need the money. So I'm sorry as I never should have mentioined it...my mistake.
I really LOVE old bikes and was thrilled to pick this one up. I have...
Hey, thanks everyone as I appreciate all your input, offers and opinions given. At this point I'll probably clean it up and see how it looks.
Any other comments or opinions on value? Should I consider parting it out?
Thanks again,
Mike
A few more pics. So what else isn't original to the bike in your opinions besides the grips? Do you think someone put a different rim on the Elgin rear wheel? Hard to think that Elgin would put different rims on it when the bike was made. Parts are tough to find and very $$$. Any other thoughts?
Thanks, Here are a few more pics. The crossbrace from the handlebars is missing as I see the slots. I guess I'll see what's on the hubs after cleaning them. Wonder if someone replaced the rim or the whole wheel is incorrect. Nice fender paint back then...
I just picked up this Elgin and was hoping for some information on it, like year, are all parts original, approximate current value, comments or suggestions, ect.
Stamped under crank:
SF
MOD 502 208
SER 33185
Is the front wheel original, made by Elgin? The front hub has an oil port and...
