Ok I admit it! I've been on the "Barn Banger" kick lately. I don't ride the bikes in my collection, I ride my builds when I ride.
Spring is here, time to get a couple out.
Was going for the taste of the single seat bobbers built around the New York areas in the 60s- early 70s, using mainly extra Monark parts around the shop. Starts in bare metal, ends in bare metal. Still wanting to figure out an iron cross setup for top of springer sissy bar.

The face lift of the 39 Monark "The Rocket Rat" is complete. Was going for the taste of the single seat bobbers built around the New York areas in the 60s- early 70s, using mainly extra Monark parts around the shop. Starts in bare metal, ends in bare metal. Still wanting to figure out an iron...
Face lift on the 39 Monark "The Rocket Rat" continues.
Rear fender ready for finish work, ties everything together. Still need to do color matching (faux) with the original patina on the bike. The 2 back holes on fender will leather strap to the sissy bar and match the insert straps. Bolt it up...
Many of the bikes over the years have had the duck tailed FRONT fenders, easier to find, and not hard to cut and adapt to what you want for the rear. In fact, looks like your friend used 1 front fender and cut it to make both fenders on that bike.
IMO, at this point in it's life, it's what the parts would bring, when evaluating a "average fantasy restored" bike like this. Not saying blow it apart, just when looking at at a bike like this that's really the best way. While it probably looks cool to some, let's face it, not much value to a...
The Rest Of The Story!
One of the bikes I have been working on is the 1939 Monark "The Rocket Rat". This bike has always been a good rider and retiring it or blowing it apart felt wrong after all these years. The bike was just not body friendly at all!
While comfortable now, some are saying I...

Not as radical now, but it's comfortable! Mainly tires (250's)...
Quick update!
The 47 Shelby project. "Back In Black" is coming along slowly but surely. Working on frame now. Not really doing a total black out, but should have an attitude.
"Projects keep the bike blood flowing"
Last Mock before complete tear down.
"1952 Monark Gumby Green SD Survivor"!
I must admit, all these years and yes, I still get excited about curtain bikes. Made the deal this week on the bike with a close friend and fellow Monark Nut!!
The 47 Shelby project is underway.
Final mock including insert, deciding to use original wheels, then finished tear down and working the bikes hardware at present.
And NO that's not a crack in the glass, my son spilled some of his drink!!🤣
When a guy Finally makes his mind up about a "Barn Banger"!
Yes, I had this one for sale for a couple weeks!
Yes, you've seen it before in it's found and cleaned up condition!
Yes, the "Barn Bangers" at least for me, are the hardest to decide whether your keeping or selling!
Well I pulled it...
I must admit, especially now, with shipping costs like they are, I am removing most axles when needed. Cuts a good 1,1/2" off of box size in many cases. I use heavy zip locks front and back for axle parts. What does worry me about doing this, is sometimes buyers are not familiar with re-assembly...
I don't recognize this one, believe it's automotive (is glass)! Anyone know for sure? The only thing I am sure of, it would make a cool rear rack or a bobbed rear fender reflector.
UPDATE:
This is the correct crank, and yes, this chain ring has the Pie Crust holes for the 47 DeLuxe that I have for sale. I went ahead and detailed out the Torrington 8's that came on the bike, they turned out nice!!
FOR SALE: 1947, 26" Monark DeLuxe.
The bike is basically an original bike. Original paint with No touch ups, and does have a cool patina (fading) to it. Sheet metal is really straight, the worn area on tank behind horn button is just surface rust/ware, no dent. Wheels are original as well, and...
The goal has really not been a 100% match with the 5 Bar, but to make her, the 4 Bar, look like they grew old together in the same old barn, with the same old farming couple.
For Sale: Men's Troxel Aerocycle Type Saddle
Structurally sound, would make a great project! The saddle is prime for a restoration! Refer to pics.

For Sale: Original 1965 Schwinn "Junior" Saddle!
This saddle is in very good condition! Still could use some detailling/cleaning. No rips, no tears, shows well!! Not a big Schwinn guy, but I believe these were used on the "Mini Twin" as well. As always, more pics available on request.

For me at 67, my interests have kept me waking up on the right side of the dirt since the 70's!
Vintage bikes, cars, and all the goodies that go along with them are tangible proof of our history, not to mention true works of art in many ways!!
