I've never owned a real track bike before. This is early 50s (best guess). a survivor this frame has been campaigned. The rims are 80s track rims.
Indecision! Too many good choices.. This is a 1930(or close) Mead Superbe frame. I'll never have original parts to restore it---even if I had the documentation (catalog pics) and I don't. Superbe frames as best I can tell were lightweight versions of English Roadsters. It has good quality tubing...
I can now report I have I.D.ed this frame as a Mead . The head badge ghost does match that used by Mead of B-ham as a Mead Superbe. It's design is for an early type derailer I think used with the Sturmey archer 3 speed to get 6 gears. The lugs and drop outs used were Brampton. The 1929 Brampton...
a friend of mine has a very nice original as you get early post war continental. This bike is exactly like it was when it rolled out the bike shop in San Antonio in 46(except for the tape rapping of the original cables that were starting to fray)
The lightest bicycle in the world. This is a 20" BMX mini. Not too sure there is truth in advertising when it comes to BMX, but I thought you might find it amusing they races these bikes using sew up tires. I guess they could have been built up with gears and drop bars for a mini road bike...
I was going to take up the hobby of Brain surgery, all I needed was some practice....but I ran out of friend real quick, luckily they all needed their bikes fixed!
We hold a swap meet once a month in San Antonio and Austin called Frankenbike. Usually just a swap but at this event they put on some stage races too. These first photos are of Bulldog riding in and showing his new built(see it on the Lightweight forum)
Ya'll come
No pressure to buy---always...
Bought the fothergill off this board...10? years ago---took several years just to see a decal. Built it our as a single speed 700 but really wanted to go original geared 27" wheeled. Just got the Wheels on and Here's a pic of it's original Campy open C (small neck) shifter and rear Grand Sports
Kind of a slow build--I've had this mystery frame hanging in my work shop for a number of years . Always promising myself I'll get around to it. well I finally cleaned out the shop! sold some bikes but this one still tugged at me---so now I'm building it up.Just got a fork that I think looks...
Trying to clean out my workshop of all the left over junk. Some complete bikes already went to FB sale other stuff sold now I'm down to stuff I held on to for no good reason. This is a pre war Huffman frame I had and painted years ago---Mead cranks--Bendix coaster-- pre war fenders--Phillips...
after the demise of Indian M/C the British Cycle Corp ended up with the Indian name as they bought out the dealerships to sell their British makes. Phillips must have ended up with the mead name.
Paris Sport & Victor Cycles were "house brands" name applied to many bicycles as sold and distributed by Park Cycle & Sports in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Vic Fraysse, with his son, Mike, imported or had made in the States, frames sold as Paris Sport. These were manufactured by multiple...
Some time ago my mystery frame and another bike like it owned by another CABEr showed up. Took another look at it yesterday and discovered mine is a touring frame designed for gears and mud guards. The last photo is of the other bike--a BSA racer.
cause people to not only through out old style steel frame bikes but also clean out their garages of accumulated junk? Was this a say 5 year event and now it's run is over? I ask this as it seems several have asked where all the classic bikes went/did we find them all/ etc? Even some have said...
Working on a Lacks Flyer for a friend. Lacks was a Texas based auto parts store and the 1946 bike a Monark (?)Version
Being the hub has a date code O4 , I take that to be last quarter of 1946.
Question is what finish did this hub have? It was painted black, but I don't know if that was the...
Were there companies that specialized in making badges? Or were badges made by the bike factories, or both?
Did bicycle factories order badge dies from specialty makers?
I've seen badges that look very similar on different unrelated brands(not just different models).
Found this on the web and thought I'd post it for pierce reference:
