Just a simple 1970 Schwinn breeze at a yard sale, in a barn with the front rim and fender off to the
side, Just could not leave there for $5~ Had a great Schwinn bell on it too!
$200 at a yard sale, just shows there is stuff to be found still~ I do well at yard sales at times, on antiques,
and a 1964 Schwinn sting ray. Never know what you may find~
if you google Schwinn serial numbers you should find a list, and can print it out to have for future reference.
is the serial number on right rear drop out(1951+ up to 1970?) or under the crank 1950 and before
older corvette, love a black Schwinn, seat is incorrect as you pointed out, but a good look to
the bike. $300 is ok, tad high, in my opinion, yet if you get $300 enjoyment out of it, then it will be
worth it. add in a new set of tires and tubes to your total cost.
price is just a number, enjoyment is what you get out of it. may be a base model like
my 1941 Packard, but you have a different frame. which did not have a tank/rack/guard. serial number under the crank,
or bottom bracket they call it. if you pull the crank, it may have a date on it...
if you plan on getting into the hobby, some local bike shops sell cone wrench sets,
with the sizes you will commonly use. as well as a tube of grease.
Take your time, I like to use a Tupperware type container to put my parts in,
adding wd40 to it so the bearings and cones can cleanse...
thanks, it is great the way it is, I did get a fender bomb for the front, might not be correct
for it, but looks sweet~
Finding a tank would be a long shot I am thinking.
thanks guys!
I bought this bike and am very pleased with it. classic cruiser for the beach
would anyone know what type of tank it would have had?
maybe a pic of one?
thanks!
dd
old bikes are great. glad you have yours. I ride a ten dollar girls Schwinn Hollywood daily,
I have 20 plus bikes, but this one I found this spring, and is now the bike of the summer.
take your time with your bike, ask questions here, and you will get a world of support and
answers~...
vineyard is nice, great bike trails. going fishing? I live on the mainland off the vineyard.
great island. fun places to go and shop. old bikes not very common over there.
thanks guys~ You sure know your stuff. I was unfamiliar with the jc Higgins, looked a few
up online, the chrome tank was wrong I thought, plus the painted rims are wrong as was
pointed out to me~
thanks
thank you, I value your expertise~
the bikes I looked up online had painted tanks, chrome rims....
unsure what to offer, looking for suggestions.........700 maybe?
is there a name on the shell of the hub? New departurehubs normally have the name on ythe shell.
can you take a pic of the hub shell? odd that someone would have changed the brake arm, but
you never know~
