I am looking for a girls project bike that is early 1900's to the late 1920's. I would prefer a bike that would use a roller chain. the bike must be a bike that was originally equipped with 24" wheels.
Wheels can be wrecked, but the frame needs to have no significant damage. I would prefer...
It was not uncommon for wheel manufacturers to have a seal of approval and a logo to advertise their product so people can Identify and purchase again.
Wood wheels seem generic in a sense, but they absolutely are not. Different makers held different profiles, and mechanical designs.
that being...
My 1924, 1927, and 1928 Columbia/westfield built bikes have the same fancy head set hardware. I would feel inclined to say that this bike is a 1933-1934 based off of the serial number and some of the features of the frame. The bayonet style Double D crank was used from the early 20’s into the...
I am looking for the following crank assembly! Let me know if you have one, or if you know someone who has one.
$50.00 Finders fee happily paid for successful acquisition! Or I can send some parts your way!
Message with questions, or inquiry’s!
Thanks
So after some careful digging I have discovered that this bike is Orange with green darts. Pretty cool color combo.
I also investigated the fork tube caps. There is cork inside of the top of the fork tube to which the cap is simply pushed onto with two sharp shafts pushing through the cork. I...
So after pulling the bike apart and checking in 3 different places, it appears that this bike was originally orange...
I am assuming the burgundy is a primer like on my 1924 Columbia Roadster.
I thought that to be rather interesting.
Does anyone have an orange pre balloon tire era bike...
If you look at the ad for this Mead racer, you can see that there are 4 grips on the handle bars. My handle bars have shadows and a little bit of melted grip in the same 4 locations.
Also here is a Iver Johnson racer with similar handle bars. I have also seen later built Pierce’s with the same...
Hello everyone,
I purchased this Columbia built bicycle last weekend. The serial number matches with Columbia numbers, but also the drop outs, lugging, and double D crank also tell that this is a Columbia built bike. ( I also have a 1924 Columbia Roadster that is a close brother to this bike)...
Where would the date be in the hub?
My friend added the wheels, so I am unsure of what the original drivetrain may have been. I am unsure of what all is original or not on this bike.
My friend found it on trash day on a curb in front of a house in Germany in the late 70’s. Asked the homeowner...
The hub is a sturmey archer internally geared 5 speed. There is one cable on each side of the hub, and from my understanding this hub is just like a 3 speed unit, but has 2 more sets of planetary gears inside to make it a 5 speed. Or maybe it’s a 2x3 set up so maybe it’s a 6 speed? I’m not...
Definitely not a crescent. There are a lot of very neat and unique features on this bike that someone will recognize. The concentric tandem style bottom bracket is very neat, as is the locking fork, and the robust front axle hardware. The chain ring reminds me of an orient, but I do not think...
Hey Guys,
I am realllllly outside of my realm of knowledge with this Bauer bicycle I inhereted.
It belonged to a very good friend that was stationed in Germany in the late 70’s. He found on a curb on trash day as a frame and added the wheels and I guess maybe the bars too.
Has beautiful...
Hello everyone, I am looking for the below crank assembly. Please check all your hiding spots, including your friends hiding spots!!!
Any help is appreciated!! Thank you!
@charnleybob that is an awesome photo!
@spencehouse I just bought a bike from him not even a week and a half ago!
Thanks for the kind comments gents! If anyone else has any old photos, share away!
Recently bought this 23.5” safety. The crank assembly is not original, neither is thd head badge. However the paint IS original. Currently badged as an Amos and Frost Imperial. Badge fits well, but there is an oval shadow that shows that there was another badge.
Check the head set hardware...
Hello Caber’s,
Everyone please keep an eye out for this Schwinn Le Tour with air shifter set up. It was stolen from my friend who lives in McLean, Virginia.
Please reach out to me if you see the bike!!
Thank you!
Any one looking for an unusually colored mens Messenger saddle? Solid shape, haven’t touched it so it would clean up more than what you see. Small burn on seat area otherwise the upholstery is in nice shape. Seat post clamp hardware included.
Asking $150 plus shipping.
I am also interested in...
Here is a recent bike that sold that was thought to be a 1905 Model. Crescent was well known for stamping their chain rings out, but by this time they were thicker, and not folded over like the 1895-1896 bikes. That is a crescent chain ring you have on your bike, granted it is a late American...
Hey cabe'r's I am on the hunt for a New Departure SM front hub that has 36 holes.
Can be ugly, but must be functional. No damage cones or cups, and no stripped axle or axle hardware.
Hoping to find a cheap ugly roller.
PM me with what you have!
Thanks
Right on, great looking bike dude!
I always hate that it winds up being one small thing that prevents you from riding. Get that cup machined and get to riding!
My bike is ready to roll minus the entire missing crank assembly. When I bought it I thought it would take a standard size crank...
I am going through a bit of the same issue. I am looking for a complete crank assembly with the smaller bearing set up. I have a 1924 Columbia.
Hope you can get yours worked out. If oh weld that bearing cone, and you intend to ride the bike, I would have the cone heat treated. But for the...
Hello I am looking for a Columbia headbadge like either of the ones in the below picture.
I would prefer a rather rough looking one to match the look of the bike.
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I am looking for a complete Columbia crank assembly for my 1924 men’s bike. Need everything but the bearing cups. If possible, would prefer one with some rust on it, but amopen to whatever May pop up.
*also I am looking for the “small bearing” Columbia/Westfield style crank...
