You're negativism and divisiveness is disgusting. You're nothing more than a troll. I feel sorry for people like you. Why don't you start an "Anything but Schwinn" forum and go away. Take all the haters with you. Anyone that "hates" an inanimate object has mental problems. Sicko Dave would...
Any ideas on value would be appreciated. These have been hanging in a basement for at least 20 yrs. They'll probably be sold locally on CL. Gary
Schwinn Speedster 26" LW. 19" frame. SA 3 speed. 1973 bike. Original everything. Only issues I could see are 2 not so small dents in rear...
A '41 Schwinn BA-97. I paid $25 plus a sheet of Phantom decals for it. H.P. Snyder frame and Monark frame I found behind an abandoned rural house. Gary
I agree some Corvettes came with coaster brakes, but I believe they still had the clip frame with the little L shaped bracket for the rear fender. I might be wrong. Please post a pic of a Corvette with standard frame and fork if you can find one. Gary
Your bike never had a tank. There are no marks on the frame where a tank would have made contact around the head tube. There...I just saved you $250. Gary
Restored DX. I'd call it a good amateur restoration. Rattle can paint. Frame is the shorter 16" type. It's like a 24" bike with 26" wheels. If you're tall, you won't like riding this bike. Original Witte Flyer Hardware (St. Louis) badge. Bike was bought out of a barn near Pana, IL, which...
I've parted out so many girls bikes the feminists would probably string me up if they knew. Sold all the frames for scrap at the local salvage yard. I usually part out boys bikes only to get parts to finish restoring another boys bike. Gary
A stripped down 20" Columbia boys frame with balloon tires. My dad bought it from the neighborhood bike guy for probably not much back in '58. Have no idea what happened to it. Gary
The cap is real soft steel like a freeze plug from a car engine. I made one from a piece of plexiglas and glue it in with silicone glue. You really can't see it once the bike is assembled. Gary
The 200 hub was a cheap 3-piece job. I think in '63 they were still using the good 1-piece hub with Schwinn script on most all bikes. It was also made in Germany. Gary
Enco Mfg. Co. out of Chicago. Adj. round die is part number 314-2174, 1" X 24 tpi. Handle is part number 318-2013. The die was around $30 and the handle was $5 or $6. Gary
Only one usable fender but you have 4 tapered kickstands!!
Prewar 26" bike frames came in 3 sizes. I don't think the post war did but you might check just in case. Standard is 18" measured from center of BB to top of seat tube. If your frame measures 16" or 20", standard fenders won't fit...
Disassemble your kickback. The cog is press fit onto the drive screw. "Unpress it" and pitch it. Get a drive screw and skip-tooth cog from a New Departure hub. Unscrew the cog (right hand thread). You can do this by first unscrewing the lock ring (left hand thread) while the hub is still...
I wanna be a critic!! Not of you, but of Coker tire. Those are B.F.Goodrich marked Silvertowns from Coker, correct? I had a pair. They are marked 26 X 2.125...balloon tire size. Except they are actually middleweight size, or just a shade bigger. It's a shame you can't get big fat red tires...
You don't need the tabs on those colored washers. I ground off the tabs and slapped them on. Crank the axle nuts down good and it will be fine. I've run mine that way for 2 years with no problems. According to Nexus, those washers are there to keep the axle from rotating. In my day, a hub...
I said the stamp (or die) was cut by hand, not the actual stamping done by hand. Of course it was done on a press. Bolts like this are made from bar stock in an automatic screw machine then the head and marking are done in a punch press. They are not cast. Gary
I would not take part MS-43 apart. There is a lead slug inside the axle that keeps the other part from moving. Adjustment is critical to the hub shifting. I took one apart once and had big problems later. I'll take a kickback any day over these things.
The universal thingie is just the...
Those letters were pressed in with a steel stamp. After several thousand stampings, the stamp wears out. Since stamps are cut by hand no two are exactly alike. Gary
Check the steering tube. If the holes for the cross bolt are wallowed out your bike will pull hard to one side...like my Phantom did.:o I bought a locking steering tube at a swap meet and put it on my Phantom build. Nearly drove into the ditch. Have since put on a non locking in good shape...
