Figured it out - the pin goes in from the back and then the cable slips around though the clamp opening without bending the clamp. Thanks anyway to anyone who read the request for help.
Hi there. Can anybody please help me with the proper procedure to lock a new Bendix Aviation two-speed cable into the shifter? I have a Columbia Fire Arrow with a broken cable and I managed to drive the old rusted cable locking pin out of the shifter hook. I have a new two-speed Bendix cable...
Anybody know what happened to an extensive Columbia bicycle history website that used to be on the internet some years ago? I believe it was maintained by a relative of someone who used to work at the old Westfield Columbia factory, and may have been accessible by searching...
Thanks for your reply, and posting the bike.
Yes, unfortunately it would be expensive and difficult to find all the parts. I'm far from the world's expert on this bike, but based on a comparison with all-original bikes, the correct pedals are gone and the gooseneck is wrong. The headbadge paint...
Nice bike - cool chain guard. A little later style than the one I am looking for, I think. The specific style I'm looking for can be seen on the CABE link I listed in my earlier response to another person.
Thanks for your reply. Please send me a picture of what you have, when you get a chance. I try to get them as complete as possible, but I will look at anything.
These were the first two years of this Schwinn 10 speed, and the only two years with the Simplex seat-tube-mounted jockey shifter bar for the derailleur. They were also the only two years for a very unusual set of Schwinn decals that were highly detailed and brightly colored. Have you got one?
Very nice frame and decals. Brake hoods and quick release front axle are additions. Wonder where the original freewheel went (and why) on a nice bike like this. 15-25 Atom freewheels don't grow on trees. Hope you don't part it out.
Did I read above you taking offers?
I'm new to the CABE and would appreciate help identifying a chain tool that will break a skiptooth chain. I need to loosen and replace some bad links, but can't find a chain tool that will fit skiptooth links. My Walmart tool(and others I have seen) have teeth that only fit modern 1/2" links...
girl's X-53
Hi. Nice girl's model. Couple of questions:
How much to ship to 75218(Dallas)?
All 4 elongated acorn nuts present?
Which hub(Western Flyer?) and does it spin and brake ok? Should be a skiptooth.
Thanks,
WS

Nice X-53. Does it have all 4 elongated acorn axle nuts, and is the rear reflector lens intact? The lens housing appears to be painted black.
Will you ship?
Thanks,
WS
