You can try threading the nipple on 3 threads or so before putting the spoke through the rim. Slide the spoke in the rim hole and down to the slotted hub flange
then hook the spoke head in the flange. This works well for me and also; do this with the wheel laying flat on a bench. Having a hole...
The last one of those single freewheel assy's I took off, had to heat it with a torch toy get it loose. Ruined the freewheel but saved the hub. Another way is to remove the axel and carefully cut channels in the threaded center of the freewheel to fit a remover tool. Then reinstall the axel and...
here are some pictures that may help the red hub above has the original shoulder axel that was set up for a 5 speed the long side on the sprocket. I didn't want to cut it cause may go 5 spd later. Here are more pics of the other hubs with all guts replaced with said parts.
you can turn that cone down on a drill press or a lathe and get a good bearing surface out of it. Plan B is replace the cone with one that has the same thread and cut a spacer to take up the flange distance. I have done this successfully several times. Some china cones will fit the threads good...

Us a small screw or some nipples in the hole to hold the spokes while you lace. I have had luck be lacing all in one flange first. I also screw the nipples on the spoke and insert them through the rim which lessens handling spokes. set up the first flange a little too tight while lacing the...
You can thread the nipple on the spoke BEFORE it's in the wheel. Lace the drum side first, then insert the spoke with nipple threaded through the rim hole. Insert the elbow into the hub. It helps to lay the wheel flat on the bench with the axle in a hole drilled in a scrap piece of wood. Lay it...

Cool and thanks. Trying to help a friend that has lost much of his sight but still likes to work with vintage bikes. He has a line on one. He could only get a partial serial number. I can’t get info with only 3 first digits.

Used to think I wanted all the cool Shelby’s and bugeye CWC’s and Super duper bikes. Now I just want bikes that ride quick are stable and comfy. Having something different is a desire cause I’m a lil different too. So now I build riders. None are true to form and totally improper. So now how...
Here is a good web to learn how they did it in the the 70's & 80's. CLUNKERS.NET with Allen Bonds is a great spot to see some good info.
I am also building one and here's some pic's. Maybe they will trigger an idea for you. Allen welded the rear changer tab to the dropout which i may do also...
