Burley Creek swap meet finds. Nice long spring saddle, Schwinn straight bar tank, a repop banana seat, and a 3 speed click shifter still in the package.
Tom is the owner of the property and the soapbox racer. He and I were both raised in Puyallup, Washington. Puyallup was a farm community, and Puyallup Tractor Company was a Case dealer and the largest retailer of farm implements and tractors supplying most of the local farmers with new tractors...
A fantastic swap meet and a stellar weekend. The first ones to arrive (10 AM Friday) and the last ones to leave (5:30 PM Saturday). @Jeff the Skid and @Tim the Skid Great swap meet, great people, (from Idaho, Oregon, California, Washington, Canada and even Mexico) a super venue and too much...
Sad news indeed. Ian was enthusiastic about the Northwest vintage bike scene, and even wanted to hook up with us when we went to Arizona for the ride with @Miq and @Schwinn1776 and company. He had to cancel because of health issues but promised he'd see us all at Burley Creek. A true gentleman...
Rain or shine we'll be there. Anyone who has ever set up at a Pacific Northwest swap meet knows that we plan for rain and embrace the sunshine when it happens. (Think Portland Oregon Swap Meet)😂
Some things I brought back from my West Coast road trip. '41Apple Green Schwinn, Surf Green Jeff Beck signature model Stratocaster, and a "73 Telecaster.
Thanks Joe, I didn't plan on buying another bike but I've never owned a Schwinn in Apple Green and I've wanted one ever since I saw Frank @cyclonecoaster.com buy one at the Turlock Swap Meet a few years ago. You can place the blame for this on Seth @Schwinn1776 😂
I just completed a 4 state 6000 mile road trip and sold 5 bicycles. I said I wasn't going to buy any more bikes on this trip, but when a fellow CABER offers you a prewar Schwinn in apple green, well....it's hard to say no.
Price drop before they go to the Burley swap meet. That's right! Avoid the high cost of shipping. Free shipping on these parts to the lower 48 states! Post War 6 hole rack "A" with legs (sale pending), Post War rack "B" with legs SOLD, Pre War 9 hole rack (older reproduction, but a good one)...
@GTs58 Now you can travel to the farming regions of Washington (Ephrata, Quincy, Grainger, Toppenish, Sunnyside, Selah or Yakima) and speak like a native with your new vocabulary!🤣
In Eastern Washington where the majority of farming exists, it would be an irrigation pond or reservoir and commonly referred to as a canal. Definitely not a lake. 😂 The outlet at the west end where the water is released would be a spillway.
You are more than welcome. Thank YOU for the route, the hospitality, and the reflectors that I thought were edibles. I got some reflectors from @Boris that I gave to some homeless dudes on BMX bikes, but I'm keeping the ones you gave me!😂
Great ride today in the valley of the sun. So nice to meet up with CABE members from different parts of the country and share our fondness of these old bicycles
Thank you Miq for a wonderful scenic route and your help putting this together.
The best part of the day for me was seeing my old CABE friends and meeting new ones. Robert, Mike and Julia, just great people. But the biggest surprise of all was meeting @GTs58 in the flesh. I've communicated with Gary through the CABE since 2018 but we've never had a face to face until...

Welcome two up Mike! and his lovely bride Julia. We made new friends today and got a new CABE member. Thanks for the great reflectors Miq. ( even though I thought it was a tray of edibles)😂
Sunday, we ride! I'm calling on any CABE members in the Phoenix area to come out and meet us even if you're not planning to ride. We'd like to visit with you and we are getting together at the starting point at 9 AM for coffee and donuts. (Coffee and Bosa donuts! It will feel like you're back on...
Rumor has it some of my Central Cali friends are making the journey north and staying at my place then attending the Burley Creek Swap. (Details to come). 😎
