    Various English bicycle parts

I've just come by a box of assorted vintage English bicycle parts including rod brake parts, spindles etc. I can't form a complete set from them, so if there are any individual rod brake parts you need let me know!

    1905 Royal Sunbeam

I've had so many questions and offers for this bike that I've decided to cash out... In terms of an English bicycle, it's the very rarest of the rare... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330738792345 If anyone from the Cabe would like to make an offer or ask questions...

    What's this one guys??

Now I'm good with English bikes, but I've been trying to help ID this and it's beating me... any clues?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170846514760&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

    Who's a website expert?!

I've given up wondering which forum to post this in, so BST it is :-) I'm at the stage with my website now (address below) where I have ample parts to start a 'parts' section properly. This leaves a couple of options. I could list things, seeing as most are quite small and not worth much like...

    Rod brakes... the mystery unravelled!!!

Okay, opinions needed :) I've spent a LONG time tonight writing out a guide to rod brakes. When I started out in this hobby I couldn't find information anywhere, so I wanted to produce a guide on my site. Can you please check it out with suggestions/comments, what needs to be improved or if...

English 3 Speed Parts... Rod Brake Sets/Handlebars etc...

Finally I've managed to source a supply of brand new rod brake sets and handlebars for most makes of vintage English bikes. As you may/may not know, most English manufacturers fell into one of two categories for brakes, either Raleigh design (centre pull), or Phillips (side pull). I've...

    WW2 German Bicycle...

We went on a day trip to Guernsey yesterday in the channel islands, and after talking to the owner of the "Occupation Museum" I've hit a slight problem. I've been looking for a German WW2 bicycle for a while, and he has three. Two are great condition, complete, but he hinted that he may be...

Time for another game of... NAME THAT PART!!!

I've noticed that a lot of American customers I sell old English parts to seem to have different names for them than we have here in England, so let's start an Anglo-American bicycle dictionary :) Mudguards... Seat Post... Crossbar... Downtube... Fork Crown... Rod Brakes... Any more?

    Something for everyone...

Right! Just come back from the first big show of the year, and here are some photos from little old England to show you what's in my garage, and other peoples over here... where to start...? Let's start with my stuff  Here's my wife in her 1950 Civil Defence Ambulance Assistant outfit...

    Rudge :)

I thought I'd share a few photos of our latest project from here in the UK, a mid 1930's ladies Rudge. We got it for the bargain price of £50... about $75... and today we started on the cosmetics. It had a really battered chainguard which has now gone, polished the chainring, cranks, pedals...

    1956 Raleigh Dawn Tourist

After reading a recent thread about a Raleigh Dawn tourist selling for a ridiculous $455... that's why I'm going to test the water with this one! It's a bike I'm not particularly interested in selling, but it will give a good indication if there's interest in this sort of thing in America...

    Rudge...

I bought a bike today, it's a ladies Rudge with the frame number A216685. Does that mean anything to anybody? I've found a 1938 Rudge with the frame number A592537, so it is probably 37/38, but can anyone confirm this? I haven't got any photos yet, but it's a classic loop frame with 30's...

    Are these people insane???

Can somebody please confirm that there's a National Insane Asylum located in Madison, WI? Okay, there was a thread a few days back saying about a Raleigh that sold for $455... WAY too high... and by total fluke tonight I found this...

    English parts

Okay, I sell a lot of parts on ebay for English 3 speeds, and I've got a Raleigh and Rudge that I'm going to be stripping very soon. I get other makes in as well, but are there any English 3 speed parts that are needed? If it's something I don't have I can usually tell you where to get it :D

Stingray... Stingray. Do do do do do do...

Right, now I'm in England. I live and breathe English bikes. On ebay, and very local is this... It's a Stingray. It's £9... about $15... and, any idea of year? Collectability? Value?

And now for something completely different... a classic WW2 English bike reborn! :)

Okay, a couple of years ago I bought a bike from ebay. The guy selling it explained that his mother bought it in 1940, and it had been stuck in the garden shed since the mid 1970's. At some point it was given a hand-painted new look in a rather nasty blue, but I saw the potential. Sure, people...

    Roadmaster-master needed quickly!!!

Right, I'm not an American... I'm English... from England... and although I'm an absolute expert on 3 speeds etc, I know absolutely nothing about American bikes! Show me a Schwinn, I'd just raise an eyebrow... which is why I need some seriously quick help from my friends over the pond! :cool...

    Why do I do it...

I've restored a fair few bikes here in England, usually cosmetically, and it never ceases to amaze me just how much money I can spend just on the basics for a restoration... not because I fear the spending, for me it's worth it... but the bikes aren't! The first Norman I did, a 1950...

    Explain Schwinn...

Okay, who will be kind enough to explain to a guy from England about Schwinn? We don't get them over here, I think I've only ever seen one. From what I can understand, they're obviously a BIG make over there who have been going for years, but are they the 'classic' American bike make or...

    Good barn find Sunbeam?

My lovely wife found a Raleigh advertised on Gumtree, and when I went down there I found this in a backroom along with a 1907 Humber. It's been modified at some point in the 1920's/30's, but the Sunbeam register have confirmed that the frame number dates it to around 1905! Not bad for £40 :cool...
