I jumped back into the hobby recently from a 10 year absence. I had 4 bikes that I disassembled not making notes. I'm working one by one with the assembly and had a few questions:
What are the proper wheels for the Westfield? How about pedals and the seat?
Attached are a few pictures.
thanks...
I have an CWC bike with the same tank and rack. The serial # starts with an "E". I was told it is a 1948. I'm in the process of restoring the bike and not sure if it's a Hiawatha, Road Master or a Western Flyer. The front fender is on backwards, the front fork looks like it was swapped for a...
this is a 46' Dayton that I have recently finished from the picture. I understood the bike was a carry over from pre war. I can get the serial # if that would help.
I have been out of the hobby for sometime. I plan on building a rider out of this bike with miss matched parts. What would the frame and tank be from?
Thanks
I understand this is not a balloon bike but Sam was nice enough to answer my post and told me to post on this forum. The bike is a Firestone featherweight vagabond with the 2 speed rear hub and ND front brake. As much as i can tell from Firestone reprints it's between 1940 and 1942. Was it built...
Firestone Featherweight with 2 speed new Departure rear hub and ND front brake. Does any know if this would be a Colson. Is their a serial # chart on colsons?
Thanks, Ron
I picked up another bike and need some help. The badge is an original Brass Western Flyer with rivets. The original color of the bike was blue and white. The wheels are wrong and maybe the sprocket.
Thanks,
Ron
the serial # is C 30817 with a 52 Cw.stamp. I'm not sure what year it is. This would be a good bike for parts. The frame has been welded by the down tube. The front tire is nice, a Goodyear all weather with no cracks. The back tire is shot. The forks , fenders and rack are in nice shape.
Ron
I recently picked up this girls Roadmaster by Cwc. The bike serial # is C30817 followed by a 52c small w. I noticed in one of the CABE posts that phil mentioned the 52 C could be a model # or year, which would make it a 1952. It's in somewhat decent shape with one exception, the frame has been...
Tank Graphics
I traced out the old design and took it to one of my sign graphic guys I work with. He cleaned up my artwork on his computer, then ran it through his material cutter. If you send me some shots and demensions he can duplicate.

Before and Aft. Hawthorne tank
These are pics of a bike i'm restoring. The bike was painted with epoxy ship paint by brush. I have a great graphics guy that can duplicate your tank graphics if interested.Ron
Good post, high five!
How about this one, I was shopping with my wife the other day in Walmart. We were walking by the bike dept. and I took a look at a few bike accessories
they stocked. I noticed a nostalgia type cruiser seat with the safety bar on the back and springs. It looked somewhat...
Restoring 4 bikes takes alot of searching for correct parts. I notice that there are several Ebay stores that use the term " NOS". Upon further research my find is the parts they are referring to are reprodution parts mostly made in China. The term NOS started in automotive restorations. The...
long spring seat
I bought an old bike with the wrong seat. Someone on the cabe mentioned it was early pre war. Is this the type of seat your looking for?
more pics
The paint scheme on the chain guard is red with white down the center. It looks like the front forks are bent but doing research on this site and others, I noticed that every bike (1952 rollfast?) in the threads has the same bend in the front forks. Was it built like this or is it...
I picked up another bike. It's badge says Montgomery Ward Hawthorne. I believe it to be a 52' but I'm no expert. At first I decided to turn it into a resto mod project. I took the bike apart, loaded it into the truck and headed to my buddy's shop to bead blast. The blaster wouldn't phase the...
