Check it out. I drove out to Fontana to get a look at this new cruiser. I liked it so much I ordered one. Two more bikes sold and this thing gets built.

The So Cal Rat Rod Ride had the privilege of riding in the La Habra Lion's Club Corn Festival parade, and afterwords we paid a visit to Park Regency Retirement center. You never get too old to appreciate a cool bike. Never.

Here is a call out to CABE members in The Los Angeles/Orange County area, and particularly to the folks whom Mary and I see at each month's Cyclone Coasters ride. This is for a very special day of riding, charity, food, and drink, and party. And the charity part will not cost anything. Neither...

Hi folks! The May 12 ride will mark 1/4 of a year that we've been meeting for the So Cal Rat Rod Ride. I'd say we are well on our way to becoming a part of Southern California history. So come on out! Tell your friends! Drag someone along kicking and screaming! Bribe them with drugs, or bootleg...

Cabe member Sulley gave me a heads up on this one.

This photo was swiped from my blog. It is definitely NOT the bike being sold. Thank you Sulley!

From a discussion on the Rat Rod Bikes forum comes:
The So Cal Rat Rod Ride.
Bring out your riders, your rust, your Frankenbikes, customs, and cruisers.
:cool:Totally like, run what ya' brung, bro:cool:
OK, How's this? Since the classic/vintage rides are on Sunday, we're going to...
The 60 freeway has always had a little touch of magic for me. The on-ramp heading west leads to the wonders of Los Angeles, and everything that the City of Angels has to offer- restaurants, entertainment, city rides, access to the 10 fwy, which means Santa Monica/Venice/ Marina Del Rey, and all...
Back in 1980 I bought my 1950 B-6 from Gertrude at The Pedal Pusher in Newport Beach, CA. When I got it, the bike had a pair of Chrome fenders from a Phantom, as well as a few other non original parts here and there. I figured that one day I'd make a project out of painting the fenders, but...
Well, it wasn't getting much traffic. Too bad, though. There were some very informative posts in the Rebirth of Cool section on modifying the Schwinn choppers. Some of the folks I met there are great people. Some are here now, and I hope others will come by.

I just clicked on the 'bay to check and see if there was something I couldn't live without. I entered "Schwinn" in the search, and sorted by high price.
Un-flipping-believable. Do these guys really think someone's going to kick down almost three grand for a 60's middleweight?
I'm all for...
I posted this over on the Rat Rod forum, but I thought I'd give it a shot here as well.
My Stingray Spoiler is turning into a perpetual work in progress, and here's the latest mod I want to get done.
I recently changed out the tail busting stock seat for a great chopper saddle from Choppers...
Saturday was gorgeous with clear skies, temps in the mid 70's, and nothing at all in the "have to do" department, so I broke out the Heavy Duti, and went cruising. I take good care of my bikes, and I'm a nut for bike maintenance, even though an old coaster brake single speed doesn't really need...
I was just looking at the Torrington pedals that Scott has for sale here on the CABE. The pedals on my B6 are Schwinn pedals, but they came off of an early 60's speedster, and are not original to the bike. Are the black block Torringtons correct for this vintage bike?
Thanks
JWM
This will be of interest to those in So. Cal. in the North Orange County/ Southeast Los Angeles county area.
Join us for a cruise down the Coyote Creek Bikeway. Here's a chance to break out the 'riders' for some smooth easy miles. We will meet at 8:00 am Saturday, January 8th at

Here's a sweet old item I picked up many years ago. I don't know if it's rare, or desirable, but it's the only one I've seen. Text reads: Cocyco- Schwinn Built- Columbus Ohio
Pretty, huh?
JWM
Here's a find for those of you in the North Orange County, or Southeast LA County area: a secret bike trail to the beach that gets you there almost as fast as driving.
No, really.
I recently discovered the Coyote Creek Bikeway The map in the link shows a spot several miles...
This isn't really about old bikes as much as old riders. I'm 58. Mary's 62.
Eleven years ago I bought a new Dyno 7 speed cruiser, and I rode it by the frame shop where Mary worked. The owner of the shop was a friend of mine. I liked to talk to Mary, but I never thought of asking her out. Until...
Classic/ Antique bicycles draw attention. Whether you pedal down to the local coffee hangout, take a ride on the bike path, or just cruise the neighborhood on Saturday morning, someone will inevitably notice your cool old bike and want to ask you about it. That's a huge part of the fun of owning...
All these Americans, and Typhoons, are just too sweet. I was right at the point where the fleet of bikes was complete to my satisfaction. I have the B6 and Starlet, for a pair of 50's bikes, the Jaguar MKIV, and Starlet II for 60's bikes, a pair of comfort bikes to collect the dust, and of...
I need the front wheel bearing set for my 1980 Heavy Duti. It's the same hub and spoke set as the Spitfire/Cruiser of the same year. I'd take a hub, or even a full wheel.
Thanks

I finally got a truck! I've wanted one for years so I can take the bikes to rides, events, and such. I just got a Toyota Tacoma with a 6' bed. :D
Now I'm looking for a good rack to carry the bikes upright in the truck bed. I can't seem to find much on e-bay. Any recommendations?
Thanks.
JWM
The last of my small fleet hit the street yesterday. The '56 Starlet is up and running. Kudos to Stradalite (Josh in San Diego, CA) for the beautiful job on the saddle. The new Sturmey three-speed works fine, and will make life a little easier for my wife. But it's too nice a day to fool around...
I just spent some time browsing through Craig's List, Los Angeles. Right now there seems to be an unusual number of really sweet finds waiting to be picked off. Lots of Stingrays, Lots of cruisers, and several vintage machines that would be great for restores or rat projects. Check it out, if...
It was 1991, and I was fulfilling a dream I'd had since I saw Easy Rider back when I was in high school: get a totally bitchen Harley, and tour America. I rode from here in southern California through Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, on my way to visit some family friends...
I got this from James Lileks site. If you haven't been over there, watch out. You can lose half of a day checking out the cool stuff. Besides, he's one of the best writers on the web.

Need B-6/ Phantom Fender Struts
I need a set of front and rear fender struts for my 1950 B-6
The ones it has are aftermarket items, and they don't really fit. They're kind of mickey-moused on there, and there is almost no clearance for the tires. I want to put it right. If someone wants to...
While I love my oldies, right now I'm having the most fun with my Spoiler. I picked it up on e-bay, 5 years old/ new in the carton, from a former Schwinn dealer in Washington State. I just bought a Strumey Archer three speed hub kit for it, and as soon as I'm finished with the Starlet for my...
Thanks to the Admins who decided to include this section in the forum. While I love good restorations and original oldies, I go totally crazy over customs. I get off on choppers (my first love), and I dig seeing rat-rods, lowriders, and even art bikes. In addition to getting my small fleet back...
My first 26" bicycle was an Evans that my grandparents gave me some time around 1960. I remember it had a metallic red, white, and black color scheme, square fenders, a wedge shaped combination horn tank and headlight with "Evans" on the sides, and a sheet metal rack. Of course, I lost the only...
Still at work on the ol' B-6, here. After asking around here and elsewhere I've come to the conclusion that the painted rims don't originally belong to the B-6, but were swapped out from another old Schwinn. Which brings me to the next issue: the hub. One pic worth many words. Here it is...
I just got started overhauling my 1950 B-6. I got the bike way back in 1980, and I know that the bike had been messed with when I bought it. It had chrome fenders from a Phantom, cheap pedals, no headlight, and the wrong gooseneck. It also came to me with painted S-2 rims. When I pulled the bike...
I have just taken my 1950 Schwinn B6 out of mothballs. It's been crated up for over ten years. Everything worked OK when I put it up in storage, but now I've found that I can't remove the key from the Cycelock in the fork. I remember that the key could be removed only when the fork was locked...
Of course the first part is finding the bike, and recovering the missing parts. I had that much taken care of by 1981. But this, and the other two classics were mothballed by '83. They did service as living room decoration in the early nineties, but they've been crated up and stored since '97...
