Tim, that is the correct seat for that bike. Speedsters were a few steps down from the Corvettes and Jags offered at that time. And as such, had lower grade parts like this seat. Probably has the cheaper block pedals also instead of the deluxe bow pedals that came with the aforementioned deluxe...

Sounds like it is cross threaded on there with boogered up threads. That thing should just spin off, normally.

The Mark IV Jaguar was built from 1959 to 1962. Middleweight bikes were not around in 1950 which the Mark IV Jag is.

NO!! Do NOT use acetone!! It will dissolve the original paint off the bike as well as the paint you are trying to remove. Schwinn paint is baked on , but acetone pretty much can dissolve anything that is not metal, so if I were you, do NOT use acetone. if it does not remove your original paint...

You have the chainring on backwards, like everyone else is saying. Flip it around before you go any farther with assembly. I believe you will have chain clearance issues when shifting gears if you don't.

Like GTs58 said, it is the rare color called by Schwinn as Opaque Green. It was only offered for 2 or 3 years in the first half of the 1970's.
