Those two are not listed in his thread so, are most likely recent China. Like, perhaps within the last 4-5 years. I have not kept up in that time but China has not made any improvements in quality.
Once, while trying to find an appropriate badge, for my 46 DX, I found a 46 girl (House painted, attached below) with the same on it. Because, it appears that, the paint is done into the original badge.
I agree that looks like a 1994-5 through about 2004 TOC Chinese repop springer. I compared my few Deluxe cruisers, and they look the same. That bag appears real as well.
I certainly doubt China Schwinn ordered them from Germany so, I wonder if this German-packaged springer was made in the late...
Must be time to replace a rust bucket because, I Just happened to notice that Amazon Swimm in crap, Stink craps and fake krates are in stock again. Worse; even cheaper made and crazy stupid higher prices!
Trash the rust, bye, bye, and BUY another.
Ah oh, I always thought I'd have to buy a Schwinn pair. Well shoot, now I can rest easier wit original Carlisle's.
"Ah oh", gave me an excuse to show it off again. 😃
Wait, what? I want to get this straight as I have an 81 24" Down Cruiser and has a old set of Carlisle's really good tread but white is cracking, still holding air and rolling well with plenty life to go,. I've been under the impression they are a replacement set, but are you citing that my set...
I would not be too sure of that mrg and not to argue wit U as I know U no way more than I. However, I use-to have a small collection of photos, of original Deluxe Cruisers, mint or near mint. Especially, one that came from a Schwinn management officer, like mint original that had Studded knobby...
That's slightly confusing as you site New in boxes 24" Cruisers and lead to Springers. I do not believe Schwinn ever made 80 or 81 springers for 24" Cruisers. I've always wanted a Springer for my 24" Cruiser and don't want an aftermarket non-Schwinn Springer for it nor Springer from the repop...
Lucky on accessories for sure as, that Schwinn 80/81, Springer was likely exchanged for a standard fork at dealer. The only factory models with that springer were the Deluxe single speed coaster. I don't believe a 5-speed Deluxe chain guard was printed/ silk screened or decal for one exists...
'Back in the day"? Heck, I must be getting ancient where, the last time I sold a Super springer I probably was happy to get IDK 10 or 15 bucks at Flea market in Azusa Ca. While probably, in the same period, like $5 in my neighborhood. My memory is failing me though B/C, I can't recall if it was...
Oh, my bad, I thought this was about the other Blue P. on eBay. I'd just taken a quick stop here as was more concerned about the tracking of what became Ian, which luckily didn't tear a new hole in me butt this week, although was nasty on my Florida ski lift 😂: 28 feet above sea level. . I...
Yeah, that Burns. IDK but, the heat is on in LA and several metro areas across the country, warning; vans trucks and trailers are getting burglarized hard. Last year, my boy and Tony Hawk team were out shooting videos. That night their commercial van got hit and lost thousands in all the equipment.
That's some awfully fine paint. The pin strips are nice and smooth. The colors appear to match Bob's call of the lighter than the blue painted fender Streamline.
The chainguard is original and warn, foot rubbing in top front and near the center, in-line with 360 travel of the pedals. This is...
Hummm.. This may turn out interesting.
What Does A Cheapskate CABEr Bring To A Free Swap Meet?"
"I'd have no clue, what in the heck ya'll be doing with thousands of "Free" and completely stripped bare girl frames, unless there's a metal scrap yard across the street..
IDK why that question is so difficult, insulting or NunYa.
I have no problem disclosing my collection worth at all.
Individually or collectively, it or they are worth whatever I can manage to sell them for. .
And to project they're future worth: In the event I croaked off? According to my adult...
Although we alls likey old bike as pristine as the day made. Can't leave fact of the matter. For the most part, these are toys and transpiration gadgets made especially nice. The crimes begin when a kid or? never got the pleasure it is meant for. While U love to like a mint Phantom or. Christmas...
I believe, if that bike's color is not solid blue and does have metallic, it is not a candy paint. Because, before circa 1954 Schwinn's Opalescent color names were based on very fine powder that lent to the effect, but simply; metal; flake, a single coat of metallic blue verses Candied, which...
"Violet in 54, I've never even considered this! Albeit nor had a Jag so, ever bothered for that matter. Gold too, now I get that. 😄 I've never seen tech instructions for secret colors with a new 54 Schwinn but that's not hard to presume on an early Opal red, technical bonus instructions:
"Leave...
BTW, the bike has been completely repainted (Restored) It's an OK paint job but, not professional as whoever pin striped it, hands are a little shaky. So, your engine and other parts may not match the date on the frame.
IDK but, it sounds like a form of the bait and switch sales trick.
I see some people in other collectibles trying buy-it-now sales for 5, 10 and more than market And they have been planted over a year temping or fishing for somebody to snach it or make an offer. Trick: Make an offer for half...
I think you're right about the fenders on your 65 except, humm,, did Schwinn use that fancy or regular reflector? I also think there's another option; for a few bucks less, you would be riding on painted fenders.
Regardless, since 'pointy fenders ended in 63, the fenders 64 and up, I think...
Man that so sucks! Lucky to have it covered, insured. The bikes, if insured, 'Personal property', you're probably OK, yet that brings another question into play, the IRS and 28% tax on collectibles. Like, if reimbersed would it file as a gain no difference if sold? If that were the case then...
This scenario sounds just like the scams in India. I mean, most of theirs are call Microsoft repair pop-up warnings, but these POS's play the same sad story.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, ashamed etc." then go right back to any sucker they can find.
Indeed, it does look original paint. Especially where whoever cleaned it, wasn't aware how delicate the pin strips are.
Yet, the rims look like, IDK for sure but; 50's-and up Murrey's.
This may not be your solution because although it was 6 months ago and I forgot just exactly what I used but: I have a set of red oval grips off a 1955 Schwinn; (no photo currently) that were like yours. I tried cleaning them hoping something would improve, soaking scrubbing etc. that when wet...
That seller undoubtably, went to the on line serial check and so, thinks everybody else must be trying to rip them off. Not to leave out; also thinks all Schwinn bikes are golden.
If made before 1982-3 your Typhoon has no reason to not have stamped rims. Every Schwinn with steal painted or chrome rims, made up too 1982-3 were marked. You should have S7's on it.
Oh, so, that's where and exactly what it is about 45/46-ers rear fender mount hole and indent fitting alignment.
I been wondering about that for years. Not as if I needed one but just curious. Lucky U be doing all the metal work otherwise, it ain't like U gonna be bumping into one easily.
Out of curiosity that you're coming up with these Schwinns so, I took a minute to see why. They were very likely, originally US Naval Air Force property for quite some time after WWII.
The airport was built by Acorn 51 Cebu/Mactan Island . This, incidentally, is where I flew in Jan 1974 very...
The metallic aluminum coat under the candy (transparent with no fleck, glitter or metallic in it), color has been Schwinn's specialty since around1953 until about 1983 or once the Chicago factory closed. 😉
Not holding air depends on the time frame these days. I have old 50-60's tubes that hold long time yet today's tubes are crap in comparison. The valves leak however there's been a few people who know what to do to the valves. You may also have a sticker or something stuck in the tire poking a...
It's pretty much, mainly a frame. On the side: Waz-sup-wit-dat color? Ebay photo has it, I have a 41 girl CWC Western Flyer and yours too. Must have been like, an over stock paint sales in the 50-60's. :)
Anyway, the wheels, front is probably from a CWC the rear maybe a Huffy or Murrey drop...
No help these days unless U no an old auto shop guy like, in the woods somewhere.
I knew a repair shop guy, in the 60's, he acid dipped my Schwinn frames and never even changed me. Not a spec of paint was left over anywhere.
Yeah, you are right about Schwinn girl sized and boy's. With Juvenile 20 and 24" sized wheel/frame, the Pedals are same as girl's pedals.
I would guess to say only this; Maybe, smaller kiddy, 16 or 14" bikes kind-a, I mean, ought to be, smaller but IDK.
The AS pedal set, I do not think are...
I don't think Schwinn had waffle pedals yet in 55. I checked my hornet and had forgot mine were replaced wit reflector newer.
However, first photo below Ebay has it correct: Seller does not show the Schwinn or maybe AS stamp on side cups but, these look like they will. this set looks are...
As far as I know, Schwinn wasn't bragging about the post war detachable kickstand. Whis is no surprize B/C they can squeeze the two small bars in untill they'll never get tight and right. Prewar they used Miller brand and would have had a narrower rectangle steel plate almost half the width your...
Not that it should matter to achieve your goal but, the two different bike companies are probably US corporations who deal European imports of Raleigh wholesale and parts division. Hence there should be plenty parts available for repairs and stuff. Except, IDK, maybe not so easy to get the 24"...
That front post with the lower bar being brazed and l am pretty sure that's leaded to make smooth. Lead is most likely why the paint fails on these types of jointing methods, it oxidizes or whatever as microscopic stuff grows on old lead when any moisture has gotten to it.. It would be mainly...
There is at least one noticeable difference that makes it unique as a one of a kind beyond the Dealer's badge.
Something U'd expect would not be on it. That badge is smaller than Schwinn's but no matter, right?
There's no 3-1/8" apart, holes for the screws to mount the badge, the distance for...
A lucky survivor indeed. Those rims were most desired when building Stink-Rats during the 60's. The chrome is thicker, and knurling was embedded in well or something like that as, there's a difference in quality before and for a short period after Sting-Rays hit it big. Perhaps due to the serge...
Lucky that the 'Anniversary' Deluxe Cruiser hasn't 'Antiqued itself yet. And surprisingly enough that those tanks don't rust as fast as the rest of chrome does. Brick tires but the white wall looks to thin to be original but maybe they're just flat?
Boy that 1959-ish Mark IV Jag is trying hard...
Comet = bleach and SOS pads = ruining your raised lettering plus breaking the rubber open to worse conditions, unless you just want a quicky job.
No Bleach, ever it will make it dry and eventual get brittle and crack faster. A fricken steal wool pad will break the surface and open it to dry...
The Deluxe Hornet in '60 Years' brochure is not a 1955. 55 and 56 Deluxe Hornet has a flat bar frame with detachable kick stand and S2 wheels.
And the topic bike in question could easily be a standard Hornet too.
Guess what just coincidentally popped up today? Fm: @Imsohawthorney
The Winged badge to fit a smaller screw hole distance (2-1/2") is on another old standard Schwinn. The photo is good and clear enough to see there's no other screw holes to fit a standard, larger badge. I.E. it was not...
Wait, wh-a-a-t? Ok screw the stem, albeit it's sure to be the wedge type. U want to get it loose. All you have to do is ride it on some bumpy surface. 😅 But, that's not why I put the brakes on here.
That Badge, called a 'Wing' or 'Winged' type. You don't have any screw holes to fit a regular...
