105 Spokes?
Looks like a 36 hole which is what I need, but given that it is a Worksman, I am assuming it is drilled for 105 gauge spokes?
I am looking for that style of hub, but I need one for standard gauge spokes. Can you confirm which that is?

Yeah, the fork is tweaked a bit. I have straightened plenty of forks and have an alignment jig so I am not to worried about that.
Keeping the original paint and finding the needed parts on budget will be the challenges.

Bummer on the Fork
Too bad about the fork. The og paint and darts looked pretty cool, but the chrome one you are using looks good. Is that just mocked up? It looks like the lower headset race is not seated.
The cream 26 X 1 3/8 tires look good with the bike. I have not seen those before.

New Departure Model C hub is generally accepted to be 1928 to 1933 (with a possible few late 1927s out there) and the rest of the bike certainly could fit that time frame. The wood block pedals might be a little later.

Talk about a suicide shift, you had to steer with one hand, back pedal, release the tension on the chain with the lever and then use your hand to push the chain to the next gear. Crazy.

It all adds up
Very small tolerance variations can add up quickly. Sounds like you might have a fairly tight chain and a front sprocket with some wear. Add a little bit of lash in the freewheel bearing and both items being slightly out of round and you can get a fair amount of play. You said...

I have a Schwinn front drum brake with a low flange on the non-brake side. Would the drum swap over to your shell?
