Thanks to everyone for input. It seems the frame up on top has characteristics matching thrasher. .But as gt s58 mentioned serial put giant as frame builder. I have similar problems with prewar colson BB and Roadmaster .Also prewar, also bottom brackets I keep pulling shwinn cups that have been...
Thanks, if it were me, I would get enough to use em now and another for further down the road.. I am not a big fan of people that sell frames with key parts like bearing cups missing I mentioned the cups to my friend and he said he measured the I.d. of the headtube noting a slight difference as...
Okay, thanks, I can suggest that to my buddy I didn't want his son trying to beat something in.The Original Schwinn cup supplied to him weren't even close. He wanted to upgrade to modern threadless, but he didn't have clearance I suppose.
Thanks, lots of info for sure. When this coworker first mentioned the build there was talk of things like threadless headset and that type of modernization for frame. Then they came back to me about a baseline the fork search could start at.. After cross examination I discovered the former bikes...
Yes that's what I always believed. In this case the parts at my disposal,Schwinn 26 parts from 60'. 70's. But the primer frame on top of post won't allow cups to seat. It was stated the frame is giant made - for Schwinn.
I disassembled a girls breeze for headset parts. Bottom cups but it had 20 ×13/8? Rim with 28 spoke count rim but tire said 50 psi. Might be wrong size cups top and bottom. The kickstand on girls bike nowhere near long as gold bike. Ain't a lot of bikes out there anymore for cores. I'm not...
It's been a while, since I seen one. That's what I said upon first sight. However I can't source bearing cups for headtube. All forks on bay that are x do not come with bearings or cups. Not for me but for co-workers granddaughter..I had always counted on the vitals from one Schwinn to fit...
@GTs58 think you are right. Having taken a late 26 breeze apart to fit onto this compact frame. The headset that is. Not a chance. Now I have a 20 inch girls breeze to use headset. This particular frame has serial bottom of headtube.. What does the frame above require far as headset?
My buddy at eBay store went out of business, I'm afraid. Altho he survived heart transplant. I had him pay for a rear fender from you bout 4 years ago. ,at least. Believe it was super wide one year only 41?. Plus it wore supports that were white. . He said he would buy for me if I needed.. I'm...
I seen that. Actually with the DOND option here, eBay the only place I can afford to look and have a chance to buy. The cross braced handlebars that were recently fought for had unbelievable finish. Might be a pickers dream at his place.
I have done a deal with reed. I needed a prewar fender. I have it now, It was worth it. My regret now is a should have asked for the front as well. I bit my tongue because I had a friend helping me with payment method. My friend suggested I keep my mouth shut if I needed the part.. Subsequent...
My friend pulled a drum brake prewar out of there a couple years ago. I wasn't as lucky, but that's how things go I ended up with prewar. Sans handlebars.
You been having a tough year. Got sick, Been late on show and tell more times than not. Then there was all that chatter concerning provenance on your Lindy. . Fooling round with these old ones never been easy.. But without a caretaker the old bikes would just rot away
I have spent 350 for a nice one. For a combo, two centers and bezel probably 150. A while back on both of these. . I don't wire them up. But put them on mainly for looks The similar base that it shares with silveray sell for a hundred and the clamp for handlebar is another hundred.. I would not...
All the ones I have had are polished. I suppose u can find one natural finished . But I think I this case it was painted over. Long as it ain't all cracked up at the ports, or vents. It is desirable. They all crack Even the shiny ones Pull the paint off it and let's see it then
How are the bearings in bottom bracket? You probably gonna be looking for items. Maybe reach out to some guys that stockpile the prewar hardware and get a combo including headset cups and chain wheel hardware.. Nice bike tho. I myself an thinking about the frame cushion adjacent to springer...
Not good. Might have to adapt a different type of Schwinn headset. A more commonly found . Lots of wear to try and get by with just replacing top bearing.
I think headlight interferes with flow of the design.. I would replace spokes if OG Torrington can be found and install Schwinn script hub up front for ultimate in adjustment. .
Had an idea to form a tank seems like forever. Been putting sheet metal on the Skylark to keep squirrels out.So I put this into action. Wooden buck in general shape of battery tank. Metal laid on top with a cover in a smaller ,but similar shape. Then proceed to shrink metal down .And around...
