If he likes it like that, let him enjoy it like that. I'd say it's pretty safe right where it's sitting, so I would just tell him you'll be personally offended if he sells it to someone else and leave it at that for now. You can check in about the bike periodically to see if he's ready to sell...
Here's my 3 legged dog on the 3 wheeled bike I put together for us. I rode this bike damn near exclusively until he passed because he went with me everywhere. He's been gone almost a year now. 😭
Bikes are super hard to paint. Something like a vespa is difficult, even for a good auto body guy. When I had my vespa painted I was turned away by a couple of shops. For professional results on a bike, you almost need to find a specialist. Or powder coat, but thats not going to look right on...
I was told this bike is a Monark, but I haven't gotten around to confirming that... I dunno if you can answer thus, but would your guard work on this bike? I've blown my bike budget, but I'll conaider making this my next purchase when I sell the stuff I have on marketplace if it would work.
This might sound completely absurd, but I think someday there will be Huffy Cranbrook collectors. They came in a zillion color combos with a variety of accessories, there are models with chrome fenders and even 3 speed hubs. and they are a "1st bike" for a LOT of people. They're also fairly...
I think we're kind of in agreement on a lot of things. The price of parts is up, while demand for most complete bikes seems to be down... I haven't tried selling a high end frame or complete bikes recently, I just know what I'm seeing advertised. I keep seeing bikes on market place sit for weeks...
Very accurate. A bike that would have sold for 300 or so 5-10 years ago is gonna be hard to sell for 100 in the current market. A lot of people bought bikes during covid lock down, and now they're back in the office 40 hours a week and allllll those bikes are gathering dust and finding their way...
I'm doing a restomod stingray and I would love to see some Stingrays with big ol extra fat rear tires for inspiration. Anyone know what the chonkiest tire will fit on a fenderless stingray is? I don't have anything in my stash to test fit, so pics of your builds including the brand and size...
Got the old "schwinn used thus serial number twice" for the first time when looking it up, but I have to assume it's a 55 for the reasons you mentioned.
How could anyone scrap that thing?!? I bought this one yesterday at a bike co-op, and they had also seriously undervalued it. They thought the hub was broken for some reason, but it just need the cable adjusted. As found, rides better than any of my other schwinn middleweights by far. I'm almost...
For a lot of collectors (like myself) the fact that it's not a schwinn is not really relevant. There are a lot of bikes (especially middleweights) that I'd prefer over a similarly equipped schwinn. Spaceliners are definitely one of those bikes for a lot of people. It sounds like the one you saw...
Looking for two 5 speed stingray chainguards. They're going on a blue fastback and a red 5 speed, original paint would be great but I don't care what the screen says. I also need a 5 speed chainring, I'm currently running the small ring from a 10 speed setup.
Edit: both bikes are pretty ratty...
Just gave one of those to a neighbor kid but I was really tempted to keep it. Seemed like a really good quality item for something meant for kids. I did keep the "let's ride" plate even though it doesn't really work with any of my Schwinns.
If you need help dealing with the regret, I would buy that from you in a heartbeat. I have two Evans commanders, but both were build from framesets and I'd love to have one that complete and original
Two 26" front fenders, one skinny one wide. $7 ea.
BOB trailer attachment piece. No plans for this guy, time to let it go... $50
26" front wheel, missing the bearings on one side but cones are there. Axle slightly bent. $20
Columbia fork from a skinny tire 26" bike. The pics...
Next up, a double top tube Snyder designed frame. I'm guessing it's an Emory, but I really can't say for sure. I have zero info on this bike, I bought it just as you see it. Let's say $75 for the frame and fork. I've already taken it apart, but I still have everything pictured. I'm keeping...
I'm going to keep adding stuff over the next few days, I've got too much stuff kicking around that I don't have plans for and I want to de-clutter a little. I'm starting with some bigger stuff but shifters, brakes, derailers, etc.. coming soon. I'm not in a huge hurry to get rid of any of this...
I have absolutely no use for these wheels, but they're basically new so I'd like to find them a home. 40 spoke, freewheel rear... I don't know much about em, but ask any questions you might have and I'll do my best to answer them. I'd love to trade them, I'm looking for a springer type fork...
