Got what I thought was the correct headlight for my 1948 Hiawatha, but it doesn't look like
it will clear the head tube.... What would be correct for this bike??
On the front axle, how do the braces and truss rod go? I've seen pics with the truss rod, then the fender braces and then washer/nut. I've also seen pics with the braces then the truss rod.
Which is the correct way?
How do you install the rear wheel? Does the fender and rack have to come off to allow room (has the rear facing dropouts)?
I took it apart 4 1/2 years ago and can't remember....
I have what I believe is a 1948 Hiawatha Chippewa and I have questions about the fork. Before I got it, someone did a
poor "restoration" on it. They took it apart, sandblasted it and rattle can painted it. I disassembled the bike to fix gritty bearings (thought about doing another repaint, but...
Picked up a project Hiawatha Strato Chief. The tank is there, but not the end of the tank. I
believe that it was originally a flat plate (no lights).
Anyone have any info on this??
Trying to figure out what the bike is in this pic. This is my dad
and his bike in about 1951-52. I'm pretty sure it's a Schwinn built BF Goodrich and
my dad thinks my grandfather got it from a BF Goodrich dealer.
He rode it until about 1956-57 and dumped it in the woods after the hub locked...
Putting a Schwinn Fairlady frame together and need a crank for it. This will not be 100%
original, so I'm not worried about a correct date code. Must have decent chrome (no heavy rust).
Anyone have one that is not Ebay crazy priced?
I won this in a raffle at the Old Bikes Club swap meet and trying to figure out what it was.
I'm sure it was a midweight (has 26x2.125 tire on it and they rub the fender braces) and
is most likely 60's.
Any ideas???
I've been searching for info to ID my latest project, but haven't had any luck. I was told it was a Rollfast by the seller (I know it could also be a Hawthorne) and I know it's Snyder built based on the SE on the left stay. Just curious what the year is and also the year of the donor girls bike...
Was looking at the 7 style tank on Ebay and the one on a girl's bike I have. They look very similar.
Since it doesn't mount on on the frame bars (front to back) , but just on the down tube and head tube,
is it possible they are the same?
Just picked up a Spaceliner today, but it has the wrong tank on it. Looks like it's off a Murray clone. The bezel decal on top says Atkins, what company was that??
Looking for some bike license plates for a few of my projects. I live in Colorado, so DBT is my first choice. I also spent a lot of time in WV and wouldn't mid finding some from there. Looking for the following years
1962
1963 (need 2, plus if they are sequential)
1964
1965
Anyone?
This is a long shot, but looking for my old Foremost cruiser. I traded it for a Schwinn Typhoon around 1983 at a flea market in Westminster Colorado.
Looking for it (or one similar).
Anyone???
Just got a 10-speed Spyder, but the front wheel has been changed for a Murray lightweight wheel. I think it's supposed to be a 24x1.175 tire.
Anyone have one?
I just picked up a Spyder 10-speed and have a couple questions.
What years were they made (mine has a 1971 DBT license on it).?
What size tires did they have? Mine has a 24x1.75 on the rear with a smooth rim. The front is 24x1 3/8 with a center knurled rim marked EA5 MO Mfg (suspect this is not...
I picked up one of the Murray "Spaceliner" style bikes a couple months ago, but can't identify what it was.
The tank and rack are missing, but it has a bezel on the front edge of the front fender. The chainguard is chromed and it has the truss style front fork.
The seat is a solid color (red)...
Picked up a men's Astroflite, but missing a few parts. Looking for the following
Tank (just the tank is fine, but would like complete)
Rack (need complete)
Hubcap on the sprocket
Anyone??
Got this a couple weeks ago and finally have it where I want it.
It was mostly complete except that the seller didn't have the original seat (says he'll let me know when he finds it).
I trued the wheels, put a correct style seat on it, new tires and sent the light to Shawn to get it working...
Finally getting back to old projects, but I lost a box of parts in my move.... Need the following parts for my 64 Super Sport
Rear derailleur
Front derailleur
Front brake caliper
Rear brake caliper
Stem
Anyone have these??
Getting ready to re-assemble the hub on my Hiawatha and have a question (or 2) about it. I have rebuilt these hubs in the past, but have heard that I might not be doing it correctly. Should the discs be installed dry, with a light grease coating or dipped in oil? I have greased the discs and...
rebuilding the hub on my Hiawatha and noticed the hub had steel discs instead of steel and bronze. I also noticed that it has 21 discs. When did they change the disc material?
Rebuilding the hub on my Hiawatha and need some parts for the hub. Looking for an axle, transfer spring and disc set. My hub has 21 steel discs..
Anyone have these?
Working on my Hiawatha project and trying to figure out the wiring. The tank has a Delta horn (2 D-cell) and there is a tail light. The original is corroded so I got a reproduction from a Roadmaster. The original had a terminal on the outside, the reproduction has a wire. This seems weird since...
Just got a Hiawatha (think it is a Chippewa, but not sure) and it's missing the headlight. I have seen one here, but it's just a bit out of my price range...... Does anyone here have one that is reasonably priced?
I have very few non-Schwinns, so this is a rarity. I just bought a Hiawatha Balloon tire on CL (for those of you who are OBC members, it is the in Denver). It will need new tires to be rideable, just don't know what tire I ahould buy. Right now it has a very rotten set of Carlisle Knobbys.What...
Picked up this Spaceliner a few weeks ago and the seller claimed that the lights worked. Pulled it apart and found a mess of home done soldering (light and horn didn't work). I ended up cutting down a very rusted tray and put in a plastic Radio Shack one and repaired the horn switch contacts...
Getting to work on my Huffy cruiser and have found a few problems...
1. Got the battery tray that partsguy suggested and tried to hook it up only to find out that 1 bulb was missing and I don't think the other is good. It's marked 2.5 volts. Where can I get replacements?
2. I pulled the...
I just bought a Huffy midweight with a tank and lights, but not sure what model it is. It looks like a Camaro, but has what looks like a Thunderbird on the tank. It is gold and looks very original.
Any Ideas? I'll try to post pics soon...
Here I go with the new project... 64 Spaceliner men's frame. Need the following parts
Headlamp bezel at end of the tank (mine is broken in shipping) and a lens
Tail light lens
Correct pedals
and a decent springer fork (mine has truss rods, like the springer better).
Anyone have these?
Looking for 2 nice Schwinn 26" midweight front racks for my 62 Typhoon and my lady's 63 American. I currently have a Wald on the Typhoon, but would like a correct Schwinn rack.
Looking for a nice 2 reflector rack to put on my lady's 63 American. Seen a couple on Ebay, but prices seem a little out of my range. This (and a front rack) would make this complete. I also need a nice long seat clamp bolt for it also.
This pic was taken last year when I brought my 1971 Benelli Dynamo Compact home to Colorado from West Virginia. Sadly, it was stolen by some low-life out of may garage in June.... My dad bought it brand new in Sellersville Pennsylvania and I learned how to ride it at Fitzsimmons Army Medical...
Looking for a nice 2 reflector or no reflector rack for my 63 ladies American. Decided to put one on it since my girlfriend is riding it. Anyone have this?
I've decided that I want to get another middleweight. I had a Foremost midweight when I was in Jr. High and would like to find one like it (or a similar one..). Hope to find one close to CO.
Here is the one I had.
Rebuilding a 66 Miss Teen for the new lady in my life to ride, but 1 cone is badly pitted. Not sure what the hub is, but it's not a Model 200. It has Schwinn in cursive script and separate dust caps. It does not have lock nuts.
Anyone have a good one??
I just started this a couple weeks ago. I had a poll on the SBF to decide which one of my collection to do next and this won out (2nd place was my 63 Sierra). It is a 1966 Super Sport and was mostly complete except for the front rim (had the Sprint hub, but had a steel wheel).
