Hello fellow cabers! $750
Here it is for the second time and I can't even describe how pissed I am that I constantly have to re type my ads over and over In order to have my ads pulled or the session timed out only to start over again and again and again and again....
I'm selling off my(1936???)...
These two have been getting some heavy ride time lately.
1949 Shelby men's bike. Generally around the neighborhood.
1949-1952 monark built Firestone super cruiser w/ mostly 51 parts and a rider rear wheel. I've been taking this one out daily for long distance rides and hunting for old...
Hi.
I'm looking for a set of original paint Gumby/turquoise monark/firestone fenders and rack. 1950-52.
Right now, I'm mainly focused on the fenders. I have some parts I could trade or I could buy them outright.
Please feel free to pm or post here if you have a set your willing to part with...
Gimme abit. I'll post the rollfast Pix as found and give you the rundown. I have the original rack and crank. That's the only replacement parts it's ever had. I kept the pedals for my 55 Hawthorne. They were men's 4 inch meteor 3's welded to the crank.
I acquired a Shelby bicycle this year and it came with this sprocket. I thought it was original, but was informed by a reliable source that it is in fact from an Emblem built bicycle. While I was trying to figure out what one of my other bikes is, I stumbled across another bike with this...
Hoofhearted, I wanted to thank you (so here goes...THANK YOU!!!) as I have been scouring the threads and finding out most of my information from your threads. whenever you are up and running again I would love to see and hear any other information you have on this bike or any of the details I'm...
So I continued to search the web and found that the Harley Davidson bicycle advertising, boasts a bike just like mine. we determined mine has the hd fork only offered the Harley Davidson.
We know a later (22,23) frame would have the front frame lugging based on Huffman s patents mine does not...
Don't quote me, but I believe your frame us different because of the year. a 1915 is a lot different from a 1918 i think. the 1918 i saw was very different.
I did pop the top cup to see that it is a wartime black cup, not painted like the crank arms. the fork also looks a lot like the later model fork. So maybe it was swapped, during an overhaul when the wheels were 're laced.
The owner did say that if there's racing evidence on the bike, it could...
I finally spoke with the original owners son. he said that this bike was back in the storage room since the late 50's or 60's and the only person who could truly tell us about it was his dad.
He said his dad did NOT race this bike because he actually built his own. He did say that he thought...
Golden Indian, it's looking like your onto it!
I know my Shelby has vertical holes. so does this bike...
My frame size is 19 from mid bb to top of seattube.
Headtube is 5 1/2 without cups, almost 6 1/4 with cups.
My backbone is 23 inches mid. to mid. so 22 edge to edge.
Thank you Tommy and Hoofheart. I had originally thought this bike was a Westfield based on the chainring, now I suspect it's a replacement, as well as some other components. I'm positive the paint is original, if you look at the early Yale motorcycles, they are this same bright cerulean blue...
So to answer the Standard badge q, The Standard badge does look ok from a distance, however it was glued on because the holes are way off, and it's been hole punched vertical and horizontal. I can't glue a badge on a bike. that's not me. on a bike like this I'd like to have a correct badge.
The...
Oh. lol. I tell people that this bike was allegedly found at the crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul to Learn the blues. it fits really well for me, cause the fork looks like it's meant to imitate rather than function and it reminds me of Stephen king's "From a Buick 8" (which was kind...
Holy crap! Someone has to jump in here. I just read the "Show us your Davis built" thread and I think my brain just shorted out.
The frame is a Davis, not Dayton, based on the placement of the lugs? it's a 1916 because it has a 6 on the bb? it has to be a Yale based on the cerulean blue? it has...
I'm onboard with checking into the exact year via the serial #.
You know I think there is some oddities to the paint, but it looks right to me. the color is very similar to my 36 iver Johnson streamlined.
Hello,
I've posted this bike before and I'm reposting it as a Davis sewing built Yale(?), Dayton(?) or Speedway special(?)
I do believe this is the cerulean blue offered in the early 20's the bb is stamped 666x or x999. This bike has a one piece fork.
I originally thought this bike was a 27 ish...
Hi everyone.
I recently picked this bike up this bike and I'm looking for as much information on it as possible as well as anyone who may have parts for sale for it, racing or original.( I have a Brooks b72 and a b19...I'll be running and I do have 2 sets of 28 inch lobdells jic I can't run...
I loved it! it was a little chilly at first but after some biscuits and gravy and donuts it warmed up a little and we were able to hit some really smooth trails. I enjoyed the spots we took photos and I liked the ride through the woods and into the city. Everyone there was a blast as always and...
So here's the badge that was glued on it when I got it. The bike has tall vertical holes like a pre 35 Westfield. not horizontal ones like 35 and up. This badge is a small "Standard" badge. It's definitely not original to the bike because it doesn't fit.
Well to me the frame construction is different at the seat cluster. see the collar is on the top bar instead of the second bar, making it a lugged frame. also the fork is all one piece. the truss rods are formed into the fork from the factory. it seems to me that it's Westfield, but something is...
Hello,
I bought this bike a few months back and was originally told it was Harris built. I knew it wasn't and I had to have it. I'm new to the motorbikes and it's got the look and size I want. it also has some oddities that throw everyone off so far. check out the amazing original color with a...
Lol. if I've finally figured out the posting here I'll definitely post more! normally there's a serial number on these, but none on this one. I'm confused by the open race bearings because they are normally in older models, however they could be replacements. I kinda think the combination of...
Normally I'm pretty sharp with these. I picked up this 40's Snyder built rollfast awhile back and I've broke it Down for repairs. The frame and fork are racked and I'm getting it straightened out. As I pulled it apart, I noticed it has open race bearings throughout, the only thing close to a...
I've seen them. I hunt for them. I've never seen one with that nice of paint! I helped a guy buy one on eBay about 3 yrs back. It was stored in my garage for a week before he picked it up. I wish it had never left. Those are special bikes because the ones produced in that line that weren't used...
Hey that's a great bike!
The problem is that's not a parts bike or a color flow. That's it's own specified project or just what someone is looking for at that price. Sorry I may build a color flow of a different color, but I can't tear that piece of history apart. I hope you find the guy who...
Hi.
I'm looking for fender skirts, tank, beehive Springer rockers, fender braces, skiptooth chain and other misc. Smalls like jewels and bezels. I would love a parts bike or even just someone who is tired of theirs or has two. All offers considered.
Thankfully
Jake
Sounds cool. Thanks for the info and legwork. Anything I removed from it is still in my possession (I never throw bike parts or hardware)and it can be put back how I bought it if need be. lemme know what your guy thinks. Let's keep our fingers crossed cause $30,000 would definitely help pay...
Ya know that's what this thread is about. If someone knows how the bike originally was built. I'd love to restore it back to its original artist rendering. But when I got it, the man I got it from stripped it of its accessories, and threw the wheels, stem, handlebars and seatpost from an older...
I think if I do anything. I'd just like to get it as close to original as possible without jeopardizing the artistry. I'd like to get chrome fenders. Custom mud flaps, a nice original headlight. And if I ever do any painting to it, it would be back Yellow and I will have the artistry copied and...
I don't know where it originally came from it definitely has that bay area feel. The seat is actually the back of a leather jacket. So maybe the jacket was rose parade themed, but I think it was just an old fringed woman's jacket. I picked this bike up in Kansas city from a guy who had bought...
That's really interesting. I picked up a Bosch headlight and I am in the middle of turning it into a flying eyeball to mount on the handlebars. I had not made the Griffin connection, just thought it was definitely missing a flying eyeball. Thanx guys.
Update
I've been collecting parts, cleaning up what pieces I could salvage, and mocking everything up on a donor frame since I last posted here. This is where I'm at so far. I realize that the bike's not 100% accurate or complete, but in my opinion it's starting to look a hell of a lot better...
Thank you everyone for your comments, I threw the bike in the trash today because it was a POS. LOL! Nah just kidding, ;) I really like it and some part of me still really wants to believe that's original paint. It had never even occurred to me that this may be a 1950s/60s refurbishment, which...
Here are some updated photos. The weather was nice today. Since I got the bike, I've added alloy rims, whitewall tires, ape hangers, a Wald stem, replaced the sprocket with a Columbia sprocket, and rebuilt the bottom bracket with Columbia cups and dust covers. I cleaned up the springer front end...
Thank you for the input everyone! First off, I agree the bike is dope lol. Second of all, @rustjunkie here are some of the pictures of the seat you requested. I'm not sure about this being a seat that's worth a whole lot of money. I think it is a seat off a newer reproduction model of this bike...
So, I was at my favorite local antique store the other day when I decided to do a little wheelin and dealin on this H.P. Snyder ladies' bike. I was told it is possibly a 1951 but my research tells me it may be a little older, possibly 30s or 40s? Overall this bike is in great shape. It looks to...
A couple of months ago, I popped on CL Kansas City to look at Columbia bikes for sale. I scrolled down and saw the heading, "1940s Columbia Rat Bike..." Had to look, had to call, had to have it. This super sweet leaf, Mary Jane dispensary delivery bike is now mine :)
I'm aware that these...
Thanks for the info guys. All of these are beautiful bikes.
My donor frame is a 4400 C. Does anyone know what year that is? It has a skiptooth chain ring on it and it looks to have an original black color.
I look forward to hearing everyone's input as this build progresses!
