I looked at the instructions, and I noticed it DIDN'T say there was any place that you SHOULDN'T put grease in the hub. I would think the Rubbing Surface areas of the brake should be avoided, but should I avoid that? Will it rust if I don't put any grease there? What do you think?
FordMike, when you find the Machinist to create this part for the Floating Hub, please let me/us know the cost, and I'm sure some of us will still be there to put in deposits or total costs to get this going forward. Happy New Year.
I am putting together this Colson Firestone Super Cruiser, but the Shims for the seat post that came with it don't work, the thinner ones I ordered don't work.
What shim is needed for this bike? Does anyone know? I even doulbled up the thin shims and that isn't working either.
Help! lol...
I'm on the LOOKOUT for a SUPER CRUISER head badge for a 1941 Colson/Firestone Super cruiser. New, old, whatever is out there. Does anyone of our Cabe Family have a lead for me?
I've been needing new Races/Cones for years. I'll probably jump in if you have some made up by a machinist. I'll need 3 or 4 sets. Michael Siddons
My SW hub sounds like there is glass and gravel in the hub as it turns.
I am in need of a fine-looking Headbadge for a 1941 Colson Firestone Super Cruiser Headbadge. A reproduction is fine........pls. ask your friends.....last thing I need on this bike, hope to get it on the road soon. Thanks, Mike Siddons
Is the chrome on this Sprocket actually as un-pristine as it looks? I'm not trying to be unkind, but chrome polish and a new photo will increase the likelihood of a sale to someone who desires a sprocket that looks Mint. Included is a sprocket I consider mint and shiny that can be used on a...
9-22-16 6:40pm PDT) I wish to buy the Schwinn spring/bolt/ setup. Please advise me of the complete total, and shall I use Paypal, using your email address?
Remember, these bikes were put together by humans reaching into buckets and carts for parts. They had to grab one, of a hundred or so parts and attach it into place. It wasn't sacred, it was a JOB. They didn't care about which part they grabbed, they just had to put the CORRECT part into place...
I am looking for a Wedge Headlight for the Firestone Colson Super Cruiser that holds 2 batteries, one above the other, and an exterior switch. . It needs to be in 6-10 condition, with Chrome Bezel healthy and chrome strip along the sides. Pls. drop me a line at [email protected] or PM. I...
Your help is quite-appreciated. I like the grip with the Finned look, and the Elgin grip and the other without the dots along the bottom do look great with the bike. THANK YOU ALL for your replies.......Mike Siddons
Hey collectors, I just
bought a 1941 Super Cruiser and wish to know what the CORRECT Grips are. Does anyone know...........lol......I know Someone does.
I've seen them with Pointed grips, similar to 1940 Elgins , but without the 3 bumps along the bottom.
If anyone knows, please post...
Do you have any photos of the bike with sunlight hitting the bike from the position of the camera? I can't see any detail to let me know the quality of the paint or the chrome.....it will be a huge help to see it without such prominent shadows. Thank you.
One of the more-reasonably priced sources for reproductions and orig parts is http://www.memorylane-classics.com......Look under GRIPS, and this is what they have for JC Higgins. I bought them and really like the look and feel, and mine is a Regal Deluxe. Now if I can buy a reasonably priced...
Hello, I am in the market for a great-looking Wrap around Headbadge for a Colson/Firestone Super Cruiser. Reproduction is fine. Please email me at [email protected] for faster response.
Thank you,
Michael
Bicyclebones on Ebay sells them for $40 a pair shipped, and the better repros for $50 SHIPPED. I've purchased 3 pair and quite happy with them all. The chrome is very nice looking, not scratched or pitted......but certainly not as shiny as a ReChromed set.......but you figure shipping a pair...
Thank you, Stradalite, for your info. When I place an ad in the wanted section, what term do I use to refer to the reflector? Is it a "firefly" etc.? I'll check with the fellow that made the "Spring" mechanism and see if they still have one.....that is a huge help-thanks!
Hello all, I just bought a Colson SC from npence and I have questions for those of you that have this Model of bike or are familiar with it. I haven't received the bike (I just bought it today), but first of all, how does the TANK screw together? I don't see a frame in the tank, so does it have...
My Parade Struts need the ADJUSTER at the bottom of each one. The adjusters are maybe 9" long, have 10? holes vertically so one can adjust the height and connect to the hub and the handle bars. Anyone have sharp-looking ones?......Price for pair and shipping to 90266 CA?
Yes, I have no desire to waste time. When I restore it I'll test the waters.......and probably keep it black on the frame underneath. I have 3 girls bikes, so it wouldn't just sit in a box if it didn't sell. I've always liked
the chromed seat frame, but I listen to my fellow collectors. Thanks all.
I purchased and tore down a Lobdell Horizontal Spring Seat a few years ago. Now I am going to refurb it and sell the seat. Would it sell faster if I kept the frame under the seat Black, or should I re-chrome it? I like the chrome, but I wish to get a sense as to whether the "average" buyer would...
