I'm a Evaporust fan. I won't use any other brand or type. Before and after pics of Dial-Your-Ride springer. 24 hours in evaporust, toothbrushed, and rinsed.
Good Morning John and all CABER's.
The 53 Roadmaster Luxury Liner is nearly finished. Waiting on the tail light box to arrive this week. A few accessories added like the Clipper speedometer, hub shiners, padlock, and "Rat Fink" valve caps. And a few non-correct goodies like the pointed grips...
I never wash my bikes. No water ever. When I first get a bike, before I assemble it, All the painted parts get sprayed with simple green, and the chrome parts with glass cleaner. Then comes the rubbing compound and polish. In the meantime I'm greasing the bearings. After assembly, the bike goes...
Thanks guys for all the help! Just finished the install. Seems kind of an overkill of a design, but it works. Can't imagine those plastic gear teeth lasting too long, glad I don't ride each bike too far! Looks good as well, I always liked the Clipper design.
Discovered today that the stem expander bolt on my Roadmaster is stripped and won't fully tighten. Length is 6" and head is 1/2". Thinking this is a common bolt, need an NOS one to get me out of this fix!
It came with 3 large and 3 small washers along with 3 screws with nuts. I'm guessing those are used to hold the drive wheel to the spokes? And does the drive wheel go on the left or right side? Thanks.
I bought a new reproduction SW Clipper Speedometer which came complete except there were no instructions included. I'm not familiar with this model, so if anyone has an instruction sheet that they would share I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!
I work full time, but I'm on the CABE before and after work every day, and on and off every weekend. I buy about 5 bikes a year, so there's always something I'm looking for. CABE first, then ebay.
Mid 50's Roadmaster. These were the years that Companies were phasing out balloon tires and going with the smaller 26x1.75 tires, even though the frames were still huge. Similar to what car companies were doing at the same time, using 14" wheels instead of 15". The sad part is that the...
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Reproductions bring awareness to the originals. Collectors always want the originals. Everyone else wants a new bike that looks like a classic.
I would call it a "clone" or a "tribute". Both terms indicate, nicely, that it's not an original, and are up front about it. In my opinion, the term "collector built pea picker" might be taken as a real Pea Picker that the collector restored or assembled (built). Of course, none of these...
Good morning John!
This past week saw the addition of bike #10 to my small collection. A "nearly all original" Christmas green 1953 AMF Roadmaster Luxury Liner. At some point the original headlight was discarded and replaced by a Seiss unit. I've purchased the correct light and am having a spray...
At 60 years old, I'm turning into an old fart. Don't see the attraction here. All I see is slipping and sliding on bald tires, and the riders head at about the same height as most cars front grilles. No happy endings here.
I guess I'm lucky. I live about an hour from AA. This will be my 3rd year attending the show. The first 2 years we easily booked rooms for Saturday, had fun all day Saturday in and near the hotel, and did the short drive to the show early Sunday, had a great time showing bikes and doing the...
In need of a 1953 bicycle license plate.
I'm looking for an actual city plate, NOT the cereal box state plate.
Should be the smaller sized variety like the one shown. Any city or town.
Thank you!
Looking to buy the tail light assembly that fits this rack on my 53 Roadmaster. Not sure if it's just a tail light or a tail light/brake light combo. Thanks for any help!
Looking to buy the following:
Roadmaster headlight, red or green, original or repop. Must be presentable and working.
1953 License plate, any city or town, no cereal box license plates, prefer smaller sized plate.
Tan, brown or beige colored torpedo (pointed) grips.
In my opinion, the U S Royal chain reproductions are the best all around tire, in looks, ride, and quality. I have the white wall versions on a few different bikes and they always draw positive comments, mostly for the ribbed side walls and the script. Contact "John" who posted above.
Postwar Men's 26" TANK BALLOON tire bike with HEADLIGHT and REAR CARRIER.
Should be complete, ride-able, presentable. I like OG paint and parts that cleans up well. I like patina but not rust buckets.
NO projects or parts bikes.
I live in Romeo, Michigan. I work full time so I can not drive...
