Whoa...nice find! I own the Roman in the thread posted by Fordsnake.
This is the only other one I’ve seen.
Let me know if you end up with it. I’d love to compare notes.
@Jesse McCauley - I had an adjustable set of bars with a similar predicament, so I went down to my local hardware store and bought a "jam nut", which is usually about half as thick as a regular nut- worked just fine! An .80 cent solution to the problem.
Should be easy to find at just about any...
Yeah! I was half way tempted, too. I know absolutely nothing about it, other than it looks to be in great shape and the price is right.
Let me know if you end up getting it @IngoMike
We're a strange breed of junk collectors @IngoMike, that's for sure. This thing had me mesmerized yesterday. It's later than the stuff I'm usually into, but damn if that isn't the perfect patina on that bike.
I think this was the one I saw you riding down Del Monte the other day! Almost got in wreck trying to find out whoever was riding that truss bridge. Haha! Nice talking to you yesterday.
This looks a lot like one that was for sale here about a year to year and a half ago...same color and condition, only it didn't come with wheels and tires.
Strangely, I can't seem to come up with anything when I try to search for it, though. Weird.
Anyway, great bike.
Absolutely on dark red!
I have one that I've been wanting to paint the same color, but I just haven't found the right shade yet.
Post up pics if you do repaint it, please.
corbettclassics...thanks for posting the above info!
This is the reason I'm on the CABE. It never ceases to amaze me what I can't find on the internet, but some of the stuff our fellow CABE members come up with just floors me.
Appreciate your comments guys...many thanks.
And kccomet, I know exactly what you mean. There are some bikes that just 'grab' me because of their stance or attitude or something. This bike has that look to me, too.
I'm wondering if anyone thinks that this could have possibly been a racer or...
Wow, Barracuda! Thanks so much for the info. That is way more than I came up with in my initial search.
That patent filing page (at least, I assume that's what it is) is fascinating.
I purchased this bike a while back from Dean (dfa242) and am looking for more info on it.
There have been other threads started about it back around 2014 when it was for sale at Copake (where Dean got it, I think), but none of them netted much information.
I've Googled 'Clothier & Burrows...
Brian, I went to measure my head badge hole spacing and just noticed for the first time that the holes are side-by-side, rather than vertical. Clearly, I'm not very observant. Ha.
Anyway, that's a difference that I hadn't noticed between my badge and the Cyrus badge...I'd originally thought...
Glad you found the thread on my Crown, Brian.
You want to try sending a private message to member CrownKing. I don't think he's on here much, but he did respond to me right away and was able to give me some good info on my bike.
Here's a little blurb from some of the info he sent me, which you...
Wow! Absolutely beautiful. My new favorite bike on the CABE.
Congrats on finally finding one...and a stunning example, at that. I remember you chimed in when I first posted my wanted thread for a 'White Flyer' and said you'd been looking for one for decades.
Can't wait to see more photos of it...
I'm trying to locate a 26" Scheuer President in any condition for a friend.
His dad received one as a Christmas present in 1959 and we'd like to find one and restore (unless we can get our hands on a nice original, then we'd just leave as-is) it for him as a surprise.
If you have one...
Thanks for the backstory, oldspoke. I love hearing stories of how people find these things just as much as I enjoy seeing the photos of them. What a great find.
And I'd love to see your other Stearns one of these days, if you are keen to post some photos.
Neat photo, Decathlete! Thank for posting. I must admit I nearly jumped out of my skin when I quickly skimmed the thread title and clicked on it...I thought I was about to see photos of an actual White Flyer. So much for speed reading.
At any rate, definitely looks like a Barnes type fork and...
Wow...thanks for all the replies.
And thanks to those that suggested I contact CrownKing. I've sent him a pm in hopes that he can help us further nail this down.
Filmonger: those ads are beautiful, thank you for posting. The 'Crown Special' does look a lot like mine (same chainring), but...
I picked up this Crown recently and wanted to see if anyone could help me figure what year and model it is.
In doing some poking around on the CABE and general searching on the innerwebz, I haven't come up with many examples that have this head badge. There is a GW Mfg. 'Cyrus' model (or...
1) I have no idea what that frame is, but it's awesome.
2) Thanks for posting that Flipper song...I haven't heard it in ages! I saw them at Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco back in '83, but that's a different story...
Thanks for the additional info, Patric and Wcben.
Anybody wanna take a stab at what these pedals might be worth?
Can't say for sure whether or not they will actually end for sale, but I want to recommend to my friend who owns the bike that we maybe sell these or swap them for something...
Hey, thanks Patric! I should've known that you (and Catfish) would have the info on these. That kind of knowledge is why I come here.
So, now the question remains: anyone know what year(s) they used these? I know it says 1917 in the catalog above, but were they also used before that...or after?
